Summary: This drive was just what I needed for my home theatre pc. It was small and played 3D blurays. For the most part it has done a great job, BUT I have encountered at least on movie it did not like. How to train your dragon 2 absolutely refuses to load or even be recognized by the drive, it just sits there and spins. I haven't found a firmware update or anything that might fix this problem. If someone knows of a fix please advise.
Summary: I got one of these inside a Pawtec brand USB3 external kit. Works well, and I am very happy with functionality so far. (burned a 25GB BD-R, 50GB BD-RE data disks, and then watched a Bluray and DVD movie) This is a 12mm thick drive, so do be aware of your laptop's slot size. I was not able to slide this internal to my laptop, which has a 9mm drive and slot. (9.5mm?
Summary: I bought this drive for $80 to go with my Macbook Air. I wanted a Bluray quad r/w so I could write 150GB discs if necessary. I also bought a slim usb3.0 case on Ebay for $10 so the entire layout was less than $90. The drive works like a charm. I can read an write bluray, dvd, and cdrom data discs for creating backup and recovery discs. I am quite happy with the results.
