Excerpt: The drive works great, compatible with newest Blueray discs (with on line upgrades, you can choose to upgrade 10, not buy 14 if you want). (As of 12/2014) The disc spins up very fast during installs, but otherwise quiet. I installed this into a new built computer and the drive was recognized without software to load motherboard data, etc.
Excerpt: I've had the drive and not had the opportunity to test the blu ray however DVDs work. The software it comes with is outdated by 3 versions. It is best to have the most recent software to watch content because it makes full use of the hardware upgrade over other less expensive models. I will update my review after testing the blu ray, hopefully soon. The drive appears to be fast but I have not written any data to disk or done any benchmarks to test the actual speed.
Summary: Ignore the review above by me. After finally finding the software that had a key for the software player for my Blu-Ray drive (it looks just like a documentation disc when in the packet), it works very well. The drive itself works great as well. No complaints after getting the software installed. Drive and software are great.
Good drive, but bundled software player needed key.

Summary: This Blu-Ray drive is great, but really not happy about the fact that the bundled software player that came with it needed a key that wasn't provided. It's like selling someone a TV and then the buyer having to pay again for a remote from another company. This is ridiculous. I bought a Blu-Ray drive and yet I don't even get a key for the software player that comes with it. Absolutely stupidly ridiculous.
Summary: Installed the drive and it was recognized by Windows 7 immediately, it's working perfectly, it's speedy and quiet. I haven't tried burning any disks yet but it's read every Blu-Ray disks I've inserted without an issue.
Pros: Recognized by Win7 immediately., Quiet., Does what I expect a Blu-Ray drive to do.
Summary: Although a bit loud when reading and the annoying Filmware updater that asks permission to run every time you log-on(can disable it) this Blu-Ray Burner is a solid plug-n-play device that has enough features for the average user. The price is a bit on the high side which could be due to the fact that most media is going digital and that the Blu-Ray looks to be dying because of such.
