Works great on my Macbook Pro.

Rj7877, Amazon
12 November 2013
  • Summary: Purchased my Lacie drive from a secondary vendor and thus far this drive has worked perfectly. Build quality is unparelled by other manufacturers, with aluminum outer case. I will admit price is more than most other drives when compared with similar features however given the reliability of the Lacie name I am satisfied that I will be able to rely on this device for many years to come.

GREAT BLU-RAY BURNER for MAC !!!

NP520 "Nep61", Amazon
26 December 2012
  • Summary: I wanted a Blu-Ray burner to archive some Photos and Music and Videos I have, which I wanted to clear off my hard drives. I wanted it to have a FireWire connection, because USB2-- in my opinion-- gets bogged down and is extremely slow. This unit did the trick... I use it with TOAST, and it works flawlessly, and it burns regular DVDs and CDs as well.

quality always a good choice

David Ladely, Amazon
16 October 2012
  • Summary: I heard the LaCie was the best quality Blu-ray recorder, was compatible with both Windows and Mac,and was the only one that also offered firewire in addition to USB. In addition, the LaCie is built very well and runs cool. So the LaCie has earned its reputation. I bought it on Amazon, due to price and security.

Cheap Build Quality: Build Your Own & Save

Hugh, Amazon
18 May 2012
  • Summary: The LaCie d2 Blu-Ray 12x USB 2.0 and FireWire Drive (301906U) does the job, but like others have said, is overpriced. Having read David C. Franklin's very helpful review from June 6th, 2011, I decided to follow his recommendation to buy the same Pioneer Blu-Ray drive that LaCie uses in their d2 Blu-Ray writer and install the drive in a LaCie 22X d2 DVDRW DL Lightscribe USB2.0 and FireWire (301484U) enclosure (link #1 below).

LaCie D2 BlueRay

Mr. CAUNEAU Francois "fc06", Amazon
13 May 2012
  • Summary: A quite expensive device, for a quite cheap cheap look : rough case and plastic tray of a vintage "ATX" look. Works with a Mac but should be hidden at first :( Another point : I ordered it to be shipped to France, but I could not use it : LaCie neglected to provide the proper plug for my country. Yet another 20USd cost to buy one. Last : I bought it to play bluerays on my 3D Tv, connected to my Mac as an external monitor... no way !

Hardware Problem Free, Software Not So Much

E. A. Montgomery, Amazon
5 March 2012
  • Summary: Needed a Blu-Ray writer for a 2009 iMac to write HD home movies. The LaCie was plug and play, no problems with the drive being recognized after I hooked it up with a FireWire cable. It was bundled with Roxio Toast 10 which works for writing HD movies on DVD or Blu-Ray media, both of which played properly on my Toshiba BDX2000 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player .

"LaCie creates Blu--ray discs but there are problems"

DK44, CNET
30 June 2011
  • Pros: Can both record and play back Blu-ray discs (I'm using Windows 7 64 bit) No mechanical problems. Comes with playback and record software
  • Cons: The Blu-Ray discs seem to require an abnormal amount of disk space. If I load a 350 MB AVI file, the program reports that this takes about 2.5 GB of disc space. This seems to defeat the purpose of a Blu-Ray system. Recorded disks will not play back on a

Great product, only slightly overpriced!

David C. Franklin, Amazon
6 June 2011
  • Summary: UPDATE - Oct 18, 2012 - As promised, I have increased my rating to 4-stars due to the new lower price that this is now being sold at, as of today ($240). -Original Review- This product is GROSSLY OVERPRICED at $380!!! This is a good product that works as advertised. The BIG problem I have with this product is the PRICE! LaCie is selling a $110 Pioneer BDR 206 drive, installed in their standard LaCie USB 2.0/Firewire 400 enclosure, for $380!

Works Great

F. Vonder Reith, Amazon
24 May 2011
  • Summary: I am very happy with this drive. It's faster at burning normal DVDs than the internal drive in my iMac. The bundled Roxio software is an ok burning program which has worked well on my iMac creating Blu-ray discs, it's just a little limited for me. I usually use DVD Studio Pro which has a lot more customization, but no Blu-ray support. I would recommend this drive it has work flawlessly, easy setup.
