Summary: I needed to download a couple of programs into my HP 210 netbook and it proved to be super simple. I just plugged the HP DVD556s in, stuck in my disks, and that was it! Based on other people's comments about the Nero programs included with the DVD writer, I didn't bother downloading them--Windows...
Summary: This product cost $99.00 it was on the box when it arrived I only paid $50.00 a great savings. I plugged it in out of box and it worked perfect my 8 year old could have set it up himself it's that easy!
Summary: The thing was bigger than I thought it would be. Not a big deal, though the USB cable connector is loose and keeps falling out of the port. And I have to wiggle it to make it connect. It's a good thing that I will be using the DVD unit only occasionally with my Macbook Air laptop.
Summary: Took it out of the box. Plugged in the black USB. Plugged in the red USB. (It's longer to reach to the other side of the laptop if necessary.) Didn't need to load any of the free software that came with it. Loaded my Snagit program. Loaded Microsoft Office. Success!
Summary: Hard to find a LightScribe these days. Got this one used at a good price. It does an excellent job at burning and labeling, but it has an older firmware and I think the newer firmwares have a higher resolution. Labels still look sharp and amazing though. This drive also saved the day.
Summary: I got this item to use with my new netbook and it works like a charm; just what you would expect from HP. Don't overlook the included Nero 9 Essentials. You'll need that to use the Lightscribe feature, as well as to write to DVD (both data and video).
