Summary: Servicable and dependible. What more could one want?? Well, "LightScribe". Precious little information on it, the software for it, instructions to operate it, and on and on in this boring vein - but it burns disks well and plays them back well and generally behaves as advertised - but LightScribe??
Summary: i bought my hp writer less than one year ago and it has failed to read any disc. the worst part is: DEALING WITH THE HP PEOPLE. THEY ARE THE WORST. NO KNOWLEDGE WHATSOEVER. I WILL NEVER GIVE A PENNY TO HP AGAIN IN MY LIFE. I DO HOPE HP GOES BUST AND SOON.
Summary: I've had this excellent drive for a few months now and I am impressed. It could just be the fact that I have an excellent quad-core 2.8ghz processor to accompany this thing, but this thing doesn't make coasters (dead/failed discs for the lay person).
Summary: The drive was pure excellence while it lasted. I did a Windows Update and it had malfunctioned ever since. I could not find the matching firmware on HP's website. I contacted HP and they said "THERE IS NO FIRMWARE FOR THIS DRIVE." Anyway, this is an IDE drive.
Summary: Installed easy enough; works great; haven't had any problems yet. Very Fast recording time and CD look great with the Lightscribe. Learned the hard way that labels destroy the CD's; will never use labels again with the unit.
Summary: Drive installed effortlessly and all functions worked as advertised. Single and dual-layer DVDs burned fast and flawlessly. Used Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and Memorex brands without incident. Lightscribe labeling also works great. Unbelievable functionality for the price!
