Hey Ray, you feeling Blu?

Baron "Stay strong brother", Amazon
26 March 2014
  • Summary: Bought 1/10/14 3/26/14 I have had this drive for a couple of months now and it works perfectly. The drive is near silent and has a small profile. I bought this drive because my current drive wasn't working. After installing the included software my old drive started working. So now i have two drives that work perfectly. So why only 3 stars for a drive that works perfectly and silently. The usb wires are permanently attached to the drive.

Works with Macs (PCs too)

Cuniac, Amazon
14 March 2014
  • Summary: If your reading some the other reviews about this burner you may have become a bit hesitant in picking up this burner. Let me clear a few things up. 1. Yes it works with Macs. Here's the thing, Macs do not come with any Blu-Ray player support. However there are several free Blu-Ray players you can find if you just google it. However, Macs can burn and read Blu-Ray natively, just not movie playback with out 3rd party software.

A powerful little package

KC, B&H Photo
19 February 2014
  • Excerpt: This drive is exactly what I've been looking for. It's definitely got all the aspects of portability. Self-contained power and data cables; heck even the power cable may not be necessary depending on the type of USB port you have. I've got it working on one USB-2.0 port without the other. It is true the data cable is a bit short, but still very serviceable. For the price…can't beat it.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Highly Compatible, Lightweight, Professional Quality

Excellent blu ray drive

Leslie Murphy, Amazon
29 January 2014
  • Summary: I know literally nothing about computers. Very little Experience with external drives and I literally took this out of a box plugged it in and burned my HD home Videos onto a blu ray dvd!!! The burning time was quite long, a couple hours but love this little burner! Highly recommend.

Two Units DOA

Larry, Amazon
17 January 2014
  • Summary: Two units, the original and a replacement both failed. The first was the worst, but the second at least installed for a few seconds. Maybe they're just incompatible with my system (Toshiba Satellite A505 6004 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit) but they simply will not function, let alone read a disc, even the accompanying software/installation blu-ray. Disappointing, as I went through quite a selection process before deciding to buy this product.

cheap very good but not perfect

christian A. laso, Amazon
8 December 2013
  • Summary: it is the best blu ray writer for under 100 bucks ( I have also one asus and the buffalo seem to be better ) , I think the only problems so far to me is that the cables are too short so sometimes its a bit difficult to connect it .

A zippy burner at a great price!

Phillip Slepian "bondmanp", Amazon
25 November 2013
  • Summary: This is my first BD burner. My internal DVD burner was dying a slow death, so I figured the most cost effective way to replace it, and prepare for the future as well was to buy an external BD burner. The other reviews nail it: Yes, the attached USB cables are stupid short, but a cheap extension USB cable was the fix. Plus, as others have noted, if you plug it into the right type of USB port, you only need one connection.

Great burner--but tons of bloatware

Carl, Amazon
20 November 2013
  • Summary: This is a great high quality burner. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the accompanying software is very hard to use and contains a lot of bloatware.

Worth buying this compact BD player/Writer.

Amazon Customer "Tech Geek", Amazon
18 November 2013
  • Summary: Good BD writer drive. Compact and no need to carry external power adapter. Worked as plug-n-play. It write speed I noticed only at 2X, not sure why, still exploring options. The software that came with it, is annoying, everytime it is asking to upgrade (though it is a licensed full version). Don't know how to get rid of it. I am a relatively light user, I use this to copy digital photographs and home videos to BD disk. So far I have burnt 12 BD discs.
