Summary: Ok ..got it tried it guess it was a very bad choose but others had good luck with it i'm glad for all. My thoughts...first out the box it's light as a feather.very poor drawer loading flimsy shakes as your loading the disc. while burning you can actually hear the speed changes.
Consider an internal optical drive instead, unless space will not permit.

Summary: Would not recommend a USB powered optical drive, as it can only run as fast as USB power will allow. That is about a THIRD of the drive speed obtained in an internal drive. You'll get 8x where an internal drive gets 24x with no sweat.
Pros: simple plug and play compact uses dual usb slot, one for data, one for power
Cons: Dead. I never dropped it or abused it. Literally inserted cd, installed software from cd and then after the computer did it's usual restart, I couldn't eject cd and drive was inoperable. I double checked the wired with an exteral hdd that used the same type of port and it works fine so I eliminat...
