Summary: My Y cable didn't work out of the box, but I was able to use one from an external hard drive. As for the drive itself... it looks nice, but I am having some serious problems with it not reading discs reliably. It reads some BDs and some DVDs, but not others.
Cons: It's a piece of junk. I bought this primarily to read blurays. Now that I need it to read a DVD it won't... just keeps booping. Not recognizing DVD's of any sort... not DVD movies, not DVD plus or minus R's doubleU tee eeF ... Sorry, it's a hunk of junk.
An apology to ASUS and a fix for a drive that was no longer being recognized by windows that worked for me and hopefully you.

Summary: Like many other reviewers here I was initially very frustrated with this drive. It worked fine for a few months, reading my Blu-ray movies and burning Audio CDs and Data DVDs and when I tried to burn a Blu-Ray data disc it would not recognize the disc, I tired 3 types and none worked, then the drive...
Summary: I really like this portable external blu-ray reader/writer. It runs off of USB power, very thin profile and quick read speed (for an external device). The only thing that I wish it had was USB 3.0 capability.
Summary: I used this drive a few times with a MacBook Air. I'm not sure I ever watched a full movie with it but the first few times I used it it worked. Then it sat around for a few months untouched. I pulled it out to use it and...I could no longer read any discs with it.
