Cons: Stopped working after a couple of months. Contacted Asus regarding this issue a while back(maybe 6 or 7 years ago), and still have not received a response til this day. As usual, Asus customer service fails
Pros: SATA. I received exactly what I wanted. Good, solid DVD/CD drive. My ASUS P5NE-SLI motherboard recognized it right away. I've owned this drive for about 3 months now and I haven't run into any problems whatsoever. The drive puts out hardly any noise while spinning.
Cons: No SATA connectors but that was expected. The front of the drive is rather plain and kind of dull but that's really not a con for me.
Summary: Great buy, just wish the Asus logo was on the face plate like the retail Asus DVD-E818AT.
Pros: This drive does everything as advertised! It is fast, quite and performs to specs. Using this with another Asus DVD writer and the combo is great when going disk to disk. Great product for the price, quiter and performs much better than my old Sony and Lite-On drives.
Summary: Repaint this thing in Pioneer or Sony black.
Pros: For a DVD drive, it does exactly what it is supposed to for a very small price. SATA interface really speeds up loading of any software and cuts down cabling.
Cons: The LED light stays on the entire time a disc is inserted, rather than just during accessing times. Loudness: for a non-burning drive this thing is very loud. Sounds like a turbocharger!
