Summary: Our Business has been successfully building computers for just over fifteen years. We often have used various products from ASUS and there products are good quality. Unfortunately if you ever have to contact support then watch out. Beware if you need a defective product replaced AKA RMA the process is slow and lacking details or information.
Summary: Simply terrible, I hooked it on my PC and it never worked...I tried with different drivers, etc and it simply does not read anything. I would steer away from this product, it's pure trash, makes a good door stop I guess.
Summary: Worked fine for six months - then I started getting "disc failed verification" errors. At first I thought I had a bad batch of discs, but they worked fine on a paired Pioneer drive. It was the drive, not the discs. Not worth the trouble of returning. "Can't win em all.
Summary: I only rate this product 1 star because it does not perform all of the functions that it is supposed to. It's got a lot of great reviews here and at, but my experience with this drive was less than stellar. I used this drive in a brand new build recently and the behavior I experienced is quite strange. I loaded Windows 7 Pro off of the drive with no issues. I also loaded the driver disk for my motherboard, graphics card, etc using the drive with no issues.
Summary: I build and fix computers for a living and over the years I have noticed a certain unreliability with optical drives. Especially cheap ones that are only 20 to 30 bucks. I have barely used this ASUS DVD RW drive and it has already gone bad. You can always tell when a drive goes bad because it will usually make some kind of bad noise when you go to burn a disc or move a large amount of data to a hard drive.
Summary: I've seen great reviews on this optical drive and decided to purchase it for myself for a new build, and got it dead on arrival. It came just in a box with no other protection but a thin plastic bag.
