If you're looking for a cheap burner that works really well then buy this

  • Excerpt: This burner is cheap, cheerful and is capable of performing the job you set it (which is to burn and scribe disks). Various discs can be used with this burner, ranging from CDR/W, DVDR +/-, DVDRW etc but the main focus is on the lightscribe technology. The lightscribe technology built into the device allows the user to insert a blank disc into the burner and burn an image directly onto the disc, providing the media is compatible.

  • Excerpt: I experienced the same problem: everything fine until I started to use Lightscribe. Then the reader seems to write fine on CDs, but fails verification, and further tests leads to CRC errors. This is happening on the second unit I got from the online store, and I guess I will have to return it AGAIN. I really hate ASUS for putting a drive on the market that falls short of its functions.

Will not recognise cd's

  • Excerpt: Have never had any problems with asus products until now. Everything was working fine until I used the lightscribe function for the first time, now it absolutely refuses to recognise any cd, dvd's work perfectly, both reading and writing, but when a cd is loaded all the drive does is make a hell of a racket. The drive is exactly one week old so my course of action was to go to the Asus web site to see if it was possibly something simple like a software glitch.
  • Pros: Perfect with dvd's
  • Cons: major problem after using lightscribe

Burn, Baby. Burn!

  • Cons: Schwache Lightscribe - Funktion
