Summary: Asus has the worst customer services I have ever had the displeasure of contacting. My product broke and they are making ZERO effort to replace it. If you want to be lied to and sent in circles, spending hours on the phone with people unable or unwilling to help this is the brand for you. Products are good until they break, at which point I wish you luck getting them fixed. Two months and I still have no resolution. Will Asus step up and fix this?
Summary: Purchased at end of April - but didn't use this until the end of June - so it has been sent back for a refurb replacement. THE NET: This burner made the BD media very hot - I suspect this was tied into the early failure (less than 30 BDs cut) - SO IF you get any BD burner that makes your media noticeably hot/VERY warm - it may not last very long - Given my experience - I would return it before the 30 day return window expires.
Summary: Thinking that an external drive would be more convenient, Asus name assured quality, and Cyberlink software (which I use successfully on another computer)was a bonus; I was confident about this purchase. WRONG!! I could not believe how slow writing was on all 3 computers I tried it on. The software informs me that an update is required when trying to play some blu-rays and when I click OK it continually loops - saying NO is no better.
Pros: none that I can see
Cons: Extremely slow compared to internal LG product. Software flaky
Rebate process broken, firmware update defective, customer support C- avoid the trouble
6 February 2013
Summary: Asus failed to properly scan the submitted printed Amazon invoice - they scanned garbage and refused my rebate. Asus emailed with instructions to USPS the forms to their San Diego rebates office - so I send 3 copies of all requested information. As expected ASUS never responded. Oh well it was only 20 bucks. However, as others have reported the drive installation is very troublesome. The firmware update failed every time freezing and or hanging at the ASUS web site.
Summary: I bought this one new through Amazon, and it worked only for about 5-6 times using Power2Go. After that it stopped working and displayed "unknown error". I went through the RMA process, and got a new one after 1 month. Unfortunately this second also worked for about 5-6 times, and gave the same "unknown error" again.
Summary: I had problems with delivery, and Amazon did an outstanding job, overcomming delivery problems. ASUS a Zero-. The software does not install, and I have spent close to 3 hours trying to contact ASUS. If I try to install the software, I get a window, with a down arrow, which sez select operating system. When I select the down arrow, and down arrow, insted of giving me an option of selecting my oprerating system, I get a message to select my operating system.
