Summary: So, my new system will be running Linux and I will consider this a lesson, albeit an expensive one, learned. My best advice to anyone considering purchasing this software - make sure you get it right the first time, because there aren't any do-overs.
Pros: I'd love to be able to say that this was the best OS I have ever used. I was encouraged to purchase XP Pro by several IT professionals I know and others who have it as the most stable thing that MS has ever put on the market. I purchased it to be installed on the new system a friend (one of the a...
Cons: Sadly, all I can report are Cons. after he had completed the installation and gone online and d/led the updates, I asked my friend to reformat the HD and give me a larger partition for the C: drive. This is where things went downhill. XP refused to boot from the install disk and would just shut t...
Summary: They it's good enough to say "oh it's a standard operating system." Well no-where does it say "standard operating system" on any label or package, manual or web site. Truth in advertising people! Do you even understand it?
Cons: My problem here is with Newegg and microsoft too, not this software. I'm apparently an idiot who bought this improperly labeled software, and I am Out of LUck. Newegg will not take it back, even despite the fact that nowehere was it properly labeled as a 32 BIT OS, not on any envelope or label or...
Cons: You're only allowed to activate the product a few times before it no longer lets you use that serial key for activation. Paid 140 dollars to use the product 3 times. To me that doesn't make any sense.
Summary: Please do yourself a favor and switch to Linux. If you just built your own computer, why put this junk on it? Red Hat 9.0 can be downloaded for free and all manuals are available on the net for free. Bill has gotten rich enough selling inferior products.
Summary: The majority of computer users can go on using this insecure, unstable, and bloated product. Also, why pay ~$300 for an OS when you can download one for free? I have been using Redhat linux for years, now, with no complaints.
Summary: I run a medium sized corporation and decided to try upgrading from our proven 2000 Pro OS to Windows XP Pro. Well, big mistake; XP has the stability of a beta operating system. After 3 days of running Windows XP Pro we got constant errors of all types.
