Summary: Still the workhorse for the MS OS choices. Faster than Vista or 7. Does not require the horsepower or memory as the newer systems, but will still run almost all the software.
Pros: Stable, robust, easy to use, proven features, small memory requirements, plenty of good software. Keeps older hardware running rather than becoming obsolete.
Cons: Vulnerable to attacks from worms and vurii, somewhat dated user interface, not well integrated with the most modern hardware. Can be a bit of a hassle to install depending on hardware. Anti-virus can rob XP-based systems of performance.
Summary: i gave it four stars due to the raid installation problems that occurred. although it is more my fault than xp's fault, it could utilize the CD drive for install rather than a 3.5 drive. still a great product and was quite easy to get around once i figured it out.
Pros: i was able to fully rebuild my comp with this. it has a great install guide, and runs nearly perfect. i have always loved and used xp, and was glad i could purchase it at the price i did.
Cons: it does not support raid 0 on its own. you need to install the drivers via a 3.5 floppy drive, granted you have one. do not discontinue use or ownership of a 3.5 floppy drive.
Summary: I had an old laptop that wasn't compliant to run 7, so I loaded XP and Ubuntu 9.10 on it. Now it's my knock-around computer. It goes on the road with me when I don't want to risk damage or loss of a better laptop.
Pros: It's XP, we all know it. We've been using it for years and years.
Summary: I know its OEM and have not installed it yet, Still waiting to piece the rest together. Witch will also be bought here. I will reply when it all comes together. Hence the 4 eggs.
Pros: The product I ordered Was the product I got. It arrived on time when they said it would get here. All the stuff I Have ordered from NewEgg Has been what I wanted and that goes back almost 10 years. A good reputable Online ordering company.
Cons: I wish they still had XP PRO. Some of the games I play Like MOHAA don't work right with 7.
Summary: I would purchase this version of XP if I have an older 32-bit system and anticipate not having to ask for Microsoft support. If you have a newer system, especially 64-bit, I would wait for the Win 7 release and purchase that, since MS web site...
Pros: The most stable Windows OS I ran (I ran all of them at different times, including Winows 7 RC)
Cons: Chatted with both Newegg and Microsoft today (20 Oct 09). Newegg indicated that the product web site shows that purchase of this XP would allow for a free upgrdade to Win 7. Tried to confirm this with Microsoft and they said that "there are no free upgrade for windows 7." Microsoft also said "......
Pros: 1. It's XP. Been running XP on 2 other systems for years with hardly any problems. 2. It buys me time for my new system until "7" arrives.
Cons: It took 9 days to get here! 1st time builder and was really looking forward to geting it done while I had a three-day. Didn't happen. - one egg Everything but the case and the monitor of my new build was purchased from The Egg and very satisfied with them.
Pros: If you need to install or reinstall Windows XP, this gives you the ability to install ONLY windows without any of the preinstalled cr*p that comes with most mass produced machines. Also, for those of you with older machines that have installed large capacity drives, XP with SP3 allows Windows XP ...
