Summary: I'm not judging this product by the software itself. Everone remembers Vista. I, personally, didn't have any trouble with Vista, because I overcompensated with my processor and ram. Zero issues with the software.
Pros: It was windows.
Cons: The hard clear plastic case this disc came in was warped as if it had been left on something hot and the plastic became soft. At first, I thought this was some kind of odd design choice by Microsoft, but after seeing un-bubbly cases in stores, I realized mine had been melted by an unknown force.
Pros: Vista got a lot of bad press but I have yet to see it. I have been running the original install of this OS on my gaming rig since 3/2009 with no problems at all. It is the longest I have ever been able to run a Windows OS on the original install.
Cons: Windows itself starts to use a lot of HDD space.
Summary: Why would you buy window 7 for more than this when you can get two for the price of one!! I just purchased this for a new build I am putting together, now just need the case, cant wait to get it done, I am probably going to install the 7 on my new build and the vista one I am building for my mom.
Pros: Free upgrade to windows 7, price
Cons: You need a good system to run vista and win. 7, 64 bit offers upgraded RAM over 4GB
Vista really isn't that bad - if your smart and willing to learn something new

Summary: Before you buy something new... make sure you are WILLING to learn it. Do not buy it assuming you know everything about it just because you know XP well. If you can't bother yourself to learn and try something new dont buy this and dont criticize it. Its really not that difficult of an OS...
Pros: OK, Vista Ultimate x64 is what I have. It works extremely well with my 6GB Ram and Intel Core i7 (Vista sees all 8 cores). I have had no problems with Vista except the annoying permission junk and the restricted accounts, etc - the norm. Vista networking really isnt too bad if you know what you a...
Cons: the annoying permission junk and the restricted accounts, etc - the norm. thats really it...
Summary: Overall I think this is a great operating system. I got my windows 7 upgrade the day after windows 7 came out. Windows 7 is truly amazing! AMD Phenom 2 x2 Black Edition Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3p 8 GB DDR3 1333
Pros: I love vista. I also got this item for windows 7 but I don't know why everybody dosen't like it.
Cons: It is a little slow, but when you build a computer you want it to be fast and the specs should just handle this os fine.
