Summary: Why is Windows 8.1 such a crap? The constant updates, the stupid metro touch-screen app style which is a completely non-sense for desktop or non-touch-screen computers, extremly slow disk cleaning, constant cpu and harddisk usage for unknown services, the disk fragmentation ...
Pros: There aren't
Cons: Infinite CPU and HDD usage, hundreds of annoying updates
Summary: If I could give this broken piece of crap no stars I would. Let me tell you what I use my computer for: Gaming, YouTube, emails, forums, and Word. Out of those, only 3 are working now. The forums being broken could have been bad timing, but the games are NOT.
Pros: I guess the start button is back. After I got used to it being gone.
Great work, Win 8.1 and Win 10 will be WINNERS, stop knocking it this is MS's work in progress

Summary: I just cannot und understand most of the people who have reviewed and are so called giving their opinions on Windows 8 and now 8.1. that these same people have always criticised every new OS that Microsoft have brought out be it from 1984 when Win 95 was released , to XP, to Vista etc etc all the way to Win 7 that had the same and huge disapproval rating by all the mainstream purists as Win 8 is having now.
Pros: Fast boot, ease of applications use, and interface. All this is a fresh approach for an MS and has been done in Win 8 so that MS's can compete
Cons: IE 11, No native pop 3, should be made more efficient as a working OS than just for apps and web surfing
Summary: After 1 day with this piece of junk I returned it. About as messed up of a system could be. Turned on, created the stupid account needed, got some basic apps for a tablet, then all the apps froze, RESTART, then couldn't download anything. Even a 1.5 meg app because according to the great and powerful windows 8.1 a 20mbps internet connection was too slow(you sure about that micro$#!
Worst product in the long sad history of bad products

Summary: My old laptop with Windows XP died just before I had to leave town to give a presentation. I quickly bought a new Dell laptop without any time to do research--so I just got one of the "better" ones (more expensive). I figured that Dell makes pretty good hardware and I know my way around Windows, so what's to research? I traveled all day; and the night before giving my presentation I opened the box and started setting up the new laptop.
Pros: NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP, NADA, Null Set . . .
Cons: I hate everything about this product--DO NOT BUY IT ! ! !
Summary: We were Microsoft Partners and in the past I was always pleased to be able to recommend Microsoft as part of a complex solution. 8.1 is a disaster, a bad Beta perhaps? that slipped through the net. There appears to have been no thought for the countless numbers of users of XP and other capable systems.
Pros: boots quickly Needs free downloads of Classic Shell, Live Mail,Open Office,Zone Alarm,CCleaner,SpyBot
Cons: Well most of it, nothing speeds work like XP, Outlook a sick joke. Could not recomend any of it to customers s
