Pros: Split screen, though that is done badly with non of Microsoft's own software being optimized for it - try and read an email in outlook with left hand preview - you can't.
Cons: The start window being by far the most annoying. But basically every part of it I hate from a PDF preview now being full screen only (arrgh) to the search not look in the C drive. I thought their ribbon was annoying - I knew nothing.
"I'm never going to buy another PC with Windows on it."

Pros: There aren't any pros that are particular to this OS.
Cons: We've had this new computer with Windows 8 on it for 5 months now and we still can't figure it out. Why they would get rid of the Start button is completely beyond me. Finding an app on this thing is so difficult. Navigation is nearly impossible.
Summary: I upgraded to windows 8.1 from windows 7. Windows 8.1 seems to be booting up a bit faster and feels lighter than windows 7. Modern/Metro UI needs a bit of time to get use to it. Overall, it works fine.
Summary: Secure boot causes hardware raid cards to boot to fast in UEFI mode and then the drivers don't load properly so you have to uninstall and re-install when you first boot...no fix. I have an Adaptec 8605E controller and I can ONLY use legacy mode and secure boot disabled if I want it to boot properly with windows, which is annoying because then you have the "Secure Boot is not configured properly" watermark that ATM you cant "hide"
Pros: System seems to run a lot faster than Windows 7
Cons: Have to install a pile of mods to get it usable to navigate properly. Hardware RAID card boot issues. Some compatibility problems with software (getting better within the 2 weeks running though)
Pros: Much faster than Windows 7 UEFI boot which makes the boot process much more secure Still run your legacy applications or new apps Keyboard shortcuts are still available Improvements have been made to Task Manager allowing you more control
Cons: Steep learning curve Search Charm only searches one location at a time Users have to learn the difference between the Metro apps and Desktop apps Gestures are not available on non-touch devices Mail Metro app does not integrate well with Exchange
Pros: and future Laptop creators, move the mouse pad right of center, know many people that are getting bad carpel tunnel due to where it currently is all the way to the left, even center was better and easier. the swipe change screen sucks! SUCKS!!!
Cons: why did'nt they make options with hot keys that are never used like "pgdn" or "-"on the number pad ;something that's hardly ever used, BUT NOT THE MOUSE PAD!!!!!THAT ALREADY SUCKS ENOUGH!, retarded, I haven't needed the swipe option
