Excerpt: Installation is straightforward; Some what it is new approach, in the beginning it is going to take you few extra minutes to know your way to get around. From last sixteen years I do most of my personal work on mac, and I can't function without P.C. windows eight is the great development, with touch panel it is awesome.
Pros: Easy To Install, Fast, Great Value, Powerful
Excerpt: It's annoying you have to spend more money to get improved control like "gpedit" and very strange you have to pay more to get "media center". Absolutely no bug fixes have been done e.g when media center comes out of standby the previous movie's audio will sometimes start playing just like in windows 7. Fix this stuff microsoft! Upgrade is just a card with a new "CD CODE" to enter. Very easy to upgrade.
Summary: Bought this OS for a brand new setup and I have no regrets.
Pros: Solid OS, I like what they try to accomplish. I heard a lot of complaints about this OS regarding it's interface, but to me it feels like an improved windows 7. Task manager is cleaned up too, with tons of awesome new info and graphs. There are some cons though.
Cons: Most notably there is a memory leak. If you have certain programs open in the background, they continue to eat up memory until you sit at 90% or so memory used. This is easily remedied by just not starting up those programs, but this was frustrating to figure out. Minus one egg.
Summary: I've used windows 3.0 Windows NT did used windows 2.0 but for a short of time, from that time to this day there was a improvement in OS, but I would love to see more from microsoft with upgrades for windows 8.1 which to my experience is a must have if you want to keep up with technology
Pros: Fast operating system with SSD once you get the hang of it you will not be downgrading to windows 7. I've used many OS and this one won me over, skeptical at first since it had many bugs but with the updates it runs like a champ.
Cons: The only thing I can think is that updates and compatibility with some programs still need a touch and its been a while since it came out but microsoft is slow on it...
Pros: I've owned Windows 8 Pro ever since its was first released. I started testing with the developer preview. At first I didn't think I was going to like the OS. I installed it on my machine and had very little issues. I had one driver issue, but that was fixed. Tried installing this on my friends computer, and had nothing but problems, however, we found out his computer had faulty RAM. After new RAM was installed, no problems. I've been impressed with the improvements si...
Summary: I'm not a MS fanboy, but, it's about time Microsoft designed a user-friendly experience with a cross platform design/purpose. Makes the OS X and iOS look a little silly.
Pros: After the dust settled, and the update to 8.1 has been released, the operating system flows quite nicely. Finding out how things are laid out begins to make sense, and very little adjustment is needed to become a power user.
Cons: Wish there was a tutorial that helped explain the location of some of the "needed" components that an advanced user typically uses -but I guess that would take away some of the fun of locating some of the new features.
