Summary: In keeping with Microsofts habit of producing a hit after each miss. Win98 after 95, XP after Millenium. MS unveiled Win7 after Vista (and, obviously, before Win8...) After living with it for going on two years now I'm still happy with the product.
Pros: Solid OS, Odd numbered, Not Windows8
Cons: Needed to upgrade a lot of software & hardware because of the difficulty in obtaining updates or drivers compatible with the OS., Difficult (but not impossible)to run Litestep (or other replacement shells) due to the revised structure of the OS
Summary: I recently bought parts for my new rig and I was trying to decide which Windows to buy. Win8 is praised for its quick boot times under SSDs, but some users seem to dislike it when it comes to its looks and crash issues.
Pros: Reliable, Older database of knowledge than Win8, Fast when installed on SSD
Summary: I bought this in anticipation of upgrading my Win-XP computer (although I love XP, obviously without upgrades to it, I need to upgrade my OS). I haven't installed it yet so I can't really evaluate it; however, the order did arrive in good condition and quickly.
Summary: I only bought this because Microsoft quit supporting Win XP. There are a few things I see as an improvement, but it frequently hogs resources with things it is doing in the background that is very annoying. And no it isn't my old hardware.
