Summary: Parents need to know Barbie Dreamhouse Party is a small collection of mini-games starring Mattel's Barbie and a few of her friends. There's no violence or bad language in any of the activities, but the doll-like characters in the game are extremely shallow of personality, seemingly concerned solely with their appearance, clothing, make-up, and accessories.
Excerpt: Based off of the TV show "Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse", Barbie's Dreamhouse Party takes place in the same environment. The 3D graphics and characters look just as good as the show! The plot in this game is that Raquelle was exploring Barbie's dreamhouse and flipped a switch that transformed every room into a party game.
Pros: Virtually dress your Barbie and do girly things
Cons: Repetitive gameplay; dumb AI; long load times
Excerpt: Barbie Dreamhouse Party is a new party game for girls on the Wii U/Wii/Nintendo DS/Nintendo 3DS. This review is for the Wii U and Wii versions of Barbie Dreamhouse Party. Family Friendly Gaming was provided the Wii version of Barbie Dreamhouse Party for this review.
Summary: If you can look past the blatant consumerism and potentially damaging image-crafting effect that the classic line of dolls has on children, Barbie Dreamhouse Party has a lot going for it when scrutinized with an eye for metaphor. Beyond that, the reality is that this is a crucially flawed game.
