Game Freaks 365
3 April 2007
  • Excerpt: Fighting games have never been my forte. The 11-year-old gamer that I was in April 1999 simply didn’t have the patience to memorize dozens of combos and throws. Imagine how thrilled I was to pick up Super Smash Brothers and not only play a fighting game that was simple to play but deeper than it appeared, but also a fighting game featuring 12 of my favorite Nintendo characters, 9 memorable levels, and more.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Mario 128 Central
22 June 2003
  • Summary: This is no Killer Instinct or Street Fighter. If you like games with blood and violence this game is not for you. But if you like Mario games you'll certainly like this because it has all your favourite Nintendo characters, and a whole lot of fun!

Super Smash Bros.

Gamebits
3 May 1999
  • Excerpt: Nintendo has long been known for their cute, non-violent kid games, and the many beloved mascots they've created over the years: Mario, Yoshi, Link, Donkey Kong, Samus, Fox McCloud, Kirby, and Pikachu, among others. Well, it's time for those same mascots to beat each other to a pulp in Super Smash Bros., Nintendo's 2D fighting game for the N64.

18 February 1999
  • Excerpt: This is a whole new approach for PlumberBoy and his pals, an Action/Fighter. Sadly, Super Smash Bros. while exciting in concept, is nothing more than a blatant suck on the wallets of the fans of the fluff of the fat-heads.
