Extreme G for N64

scream4bruce, Dooyoo
3 October 2008
  • Excerpt: *A review of Extreme G for the N64 which primarily focuses on the single-player experience.* As a futuristic racer, Extreme G is fairly forgiving; should the G-Bike fall off the course it's recovered, and when the shields are low this equates to a greater speed loss when hit by enemy fire, so no elimination in the game. However, there's no sabotaging the race either! Extreme G is a lightning quick racing game, though perhaps too fast for it's own good.

  • Pros: Some stunning track designs, top techno tunes, sense of speed
  • Cons: Frame - rate issues, too fast? sole player modes could be better realised

  • Excerpt: Extreme G Extreme-G is a futuristic combat racing game played across 12 rollercoaster like tracks. Up to four players pilot high-tech, heavily armed motorbikes in an intense, fast-action racing experience. Extreme-G combines furious Rumble-pack driven combat, imaginative weapons, 12 beautiful tracks over 4 different worlds, and twists, loops, drops, and corkscrews at speeds that will leave you reaching for the barf bag.
  • Cons: "Unthrillllingness (if that is a word)"

  • Excerpt: It's very rare that I find a game I dislike, but this is one of them. I love racing games generally, and ones like Star Wars racer and Mariokart 64 really show off the power of this console, but as with every machine there are games that seem to have been developed for the sake of having another racing game. This feels very much to me like a game that has been developed just because there weren't enough racing games on the N64.

Out of control racing

  • Excerpt: Why did I buy this game --- 2 reasons... 1. IT WAS CHEAP! I think I paid about £10 for it used. 2. I enjoy racing games. Why did I keep it? ... It is fun to play and well designed. The tracks and vehicles are very detailed. The game plays fast and very smooth. It is enjoyable with or without an opponent. The details quite often go unnoticed unless you are watching someone else play. Scenes tend to fly by while playing. A couple of problems with this game.
  • Pros: Good racing, cheap
  • Cons: Need wider and longer tracks

Extreme G

  • Excerpt: Forget F-Zero, this game came first and although it isn't as good you shouldn't compare it to F-Zero. The game is incredibly fast and the graphics are amazing, the way the scenery whizzes by while your going 500 miles per hour without a hint of slowdown is fantastic. There are lots of courses and bikes to unlock. The tracks are varied and very fast.
  • Pros: Great graphics, speed to rival F - Zero
  • Cons: Handling needs improving, sometimes frustrating .

Excellent Extreme

  • Excerpt: At first I was concerned about this game; it was only £6.66, and the description on the back didn't inspire me too much; I only gave it a go because if it didn't work out, I hadn't wasted much. How wrong I was. Frankly, the only thing I dislike about it is the save feature-or lack therof. Goldeneye, it saves to the N64. Mario, it saves to the N64. I need a separate memory pack that plugs into the controller to save Extreme-G games.
  • Pros: Very playable, fun music
  • Cons: Need a memory pack for the controller to save

Extreme G the G stands for GASH

  • Excerpt: Extreme G is one of the most frustrating, boring games I've ever played. The gameplay itself isn't so much the problem as it is fast paced and sharp. However, it is virtually unusable due to the difficult menu system and entirely unhelpful guide book. The game is a futuristic racing game with nice visuals and smooth graphics.
  • Pros: reasonable graphics, good gameplay
  • Cons: terrible guidebook, unusable interface, stupid weapons

extreme rubbish

  • Excerpt: At first i thought this game to be moderately playable. I played it more, it started to seem not as good as at first. The reason? The game has 0% strategy to it. Basically the game is far too fast to handle, with very poor handling on the bikes. The sound is not too brilliant either. It seems to lack in that department. A playable game, if you like things to be very random.
  • Pros: Very very fast
  • Cons: unplayable, too fast
