Summary: this game is censored and compared to the pc version very lite in terms of violence and adult situations which is not to say it doesn't retain its orginal spirit but it's just a very lazy port.
Excerpt: *Review focuses primarily on the single-player aspect of the game.* The N64 port of the PC FPS, Duke Nukem 3D. Muchly censored. KICK-ASS WEAPONRY! Highlights include: setting up, and luring enemies into setting off a laser tripbomb; shrinking enemies with the Shrink Ray and then squashing them; and...
Pros: Kick - ass weaponry, cool enemy and level designs, no save game abuse !
Cons: Flickering lights; no in - game music, presentation could be tighter
Excerpt: For anyone who remembers the original platform games would have waited this in anticipation and maybe on the N64's release it would have been passable but today this fails in comparison to all but Doom and Hexen on the N64.
Excerpt: After playing all the half decent games for the n64 (and some of the not so good games of which there are many) this game is the most original game there is. All the other games follow something out of comic books and on the NES an SNES.
Excerpt: Nice accurate conversion of the PC original with one or two improvements on the single player game (polygon boss for a start) plus fantastic upto 4 player splitscreen deathmatch action. Great fun!!!! I particularly remember playing the stadium level with 3 mates.
Excerpt: the duke returns on N64 and he is quicker, and more seamless than ever. Many new weapons are available on this, and can be put to both useful, and comic effect. The mighty foot is indeed a weapon of some reckoning.
Excerpt: This game is inspired and I would even say copied on the computer game Duke Nukem that was released a few years ago. While the game is about the same has the computer there is some elements that are better and some that need improvement.
Excerpt: This game is a conversion of the PC original, a great game. Although it lacks some of the features, it adds better graphics and some great bots for multiplayer. The game itself (like its PC counterpart) won't last especially long in single player, and it lacks the editor (obviously) which was the...
Du PC à la N64 avec du retard & un coup de vieux !
31 May 2001
