Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)
4 July 2013
Excerpt: Conker's bad Fur Day is, without a slightest doubt, a great, offensive N64 title that showed the Nintendo can create mature rated games just like Sony or Microsoft. Nintendo has recently been trying to shed it \'Kiddie\' image by releasing my offensive titles like the Resident Evil series and BMX XXX. Unlike BMX XXX, Conker is a game that parents will scorn.
Excerpt: Everyone has seen and played platform action/adventure games before. If you are like me then you just plain love 'em' and buy every new one that comes out. However, one problem with platformers has been that they are a little on the kiddie side. The puzzles in the games sometimes take the intellect of an adult but the themes have been a little lame. There are even games that if someone were to catch you play, they might question your sexuality.
Pros: Incredible Graphics., Incredible Sound., Humorous Gameplay., One of the best N64 games.
Cons: Nintendo should have more games like this., Should have been released a long time ago., A little on the easy side, but nothing to degrade the gameplay.
Excerpt: The gameplay is inventive, making it more than a simple Mario clone. It is literally filled with puzzles from start to finish. Unlike most platformers, Conker’s does not resort to the endless collection of coins or rings to keep players involved but, instead, leaves the playing field wide open for exploration. If you are player who prefers to pick up a strategy guide along with the game, the BFD will probably disappoint you.
Excerpt: Conker's Bad Fur Day (BFD) is unsuitable for children. The game garnishes a mature rating and goes to extreme measures to ensure that the rating is deserved. The cute little characters found in the game look like those found in other offerings designed for everyone in mind but be forewarned: these are some of the most irreverent, vilest, violent, trash-mouthed characters that you've ever seen in a video game.
Excerpt: One part gin, two parts squirrel. Garnish with nuts. Up all night, partying to the break of dawn. No worries, eh? You're young, invincible, and it doesn't matter that your blood alcohol level has sloshed its way into double digits hours ago. Oh, you'll regret it all right. Come tomorrow, the only right you'll be fighting for is the one to see clearly and stand on two legs. Not to mention the right not to puke all over the floor.
Pros: Funny!, Great audio and voices, Some real quality game sequences, Second half of game, Simplistic action, Linear nature, Broken game flow
Excerpt: While thinking about the accepted standards and roles of games, I had originally envisioned doing a short series of selected reviews exploring this issue. It seemed rather appropriate, given that at the time there were a few games on the horizon which appeared to be pushing the envelope of content.
Excerpt: We always suspected it. We saw the strange, sarcastic humour in games like Donkey Kong Country. We saw violence poured in Killer Instinct, and the wanton destruction of Blast Corps. We experienced the joy of killing scientists and executing Tribals in Goldeneye and Jet Force Gemini. Hell, we even saw KI’s Orchid get her kit off.
