A real blast to play but it may not be everyones cup of tea

  • Excerpt: Blast Corps was the second game released for the N64 and it is one of the more unique titles in the N64 library. Blast Corps is an interesting one of a kind type of game that had no relation to any former game made by Rare, or for that matter anyone else, and there has never been a game quite like it since. STORY: 5/10 There is some kind of plot but it's really just more of a premise to set up the action.
  • Pros: Utterly unique gameplaying experience, good range of vehicles, stages and hidden secrets
  • Cons: Can sometimes be repetitive and frustrating

An underrated hidden gem on the N64 but not quite an all time classic

Demolition heaven!

Supermetroid, Dooyoo
29 September 2008
  • Excerpt: Blast corps was one of the launch games on the N64 in 1997. To sum up Blast corps = demolition heaven. Not that the story is relevant, but a truck loaded with 2 nuclear bombs has suffered a malfunction and is heading towards cities. Cue in Blast corps to save the day by demolishing anything that stands in the way of the truck. Graphically, the game looks ok by todays standards but remember back in the day this game was all the rage.

It's A Blast

  • Excerpt: Sometimes the most un-thought of titles can fairly be deemed as a ‘classic’ game. Look at Act Raiser for the SNES, most people haven’t heard of it, even though it’s one of the best games that was ever released for the legendary console. This is similarly what happened with Blast Corps, a Rare creation. Although it cannot be called ‘the’ best N64 game, it’s one of them! It’s a game that’s not really in people’s minds as a classic game, but it certainly deserves to be.
  • Pros: Addictive Gameplay
  • Cons: Graphics Aren't Too Great

  • Excerpt: There are some jobs that I would simply love to have. Being supreme dictator of the World is probably the most obvious one but sometimes, when I have a less inflated opinion of myself, I like to picture myself in the job of Blast Corps' designer. I can picture the scene now. Gathered together with the Rare software development team, I attempt to explain the premise of my game: "Well, you see, this nuclear-weapon carrying truck leaks, and so the steering wheel jams, and...

  • Excerpt: Blast Corps was one of the games released for the launch of the N64 and it was completely over shadowed by the likes of Mario 64. The game in volves clearing the path for a truck with a nuclear bomb opn the back of it. This is done by the player who has the control of a bulldozer for the majority of the game but other vehicles are available during the game.
  • Pros: Great fun  good gameplay
  • Cons: Gets slightly repetitive after time

A must have game

stbs, Ciao
17 June 2001
  • Excerpt: Blast Corps for the N64 is one of the console's many must have games. The game revolves around puzzle solving and frantic blasting action with tons of mini-games on offer. As well as being both instantly accessable and graphically astounding the thing that hits you about this game is its depth, just when you think you've unlocked everything it turns out you have to do it AGAIN but with better times to unlock yet more levels.
  • Pros: looks great, handles well, lots of different vehicles and cars, will last YEARS !
  • Cons: Can be very difficult, too big?

  • Excerpt: I got this game for a few pound in the bargin bin of Woolworths. However, despite the price and the condition of the box (well, the bits of cardboard it came with) i found this game higly enjoyable. The gameplay itself is simple, if a little unbelieveable. A truck carrying 2 nuclear bombs in on a direct course for home. It will stop for nothing, and the slightest knock will detonate it. Your task, as a team of demolition experts, is to destroy all obstacles in it's path.
  • Pros: Price .
  • Cons: Graphics and sounds a bit simplistic .

  • Excerpt: This is one of the worst games I have ever played. Not only is the plot of the game mind numbingly dumb. It is also to hard, and uninteresting. Think about the plot of this game. A nuclear truck is on a one way course to some place where it can be fixed. You have to blow up half the world to let it get there unharmed. Well, it's believable so far. Then the "Blast Corp." a company that specializes in this sort of thing send out the machines.
