Summary: I installed two of these cards into one PC. One of them became inoperable after only about 9 months' use. Something curious that accompanied its demise was that its MAC address, as reported by ipconfig, had become (odd).
Summary: I purchased three of these NICs and installed them in: WinME Win2k Pro/Win2k Server (used it in one and then the other, months apart) WinXP Pro There are no drivers to install. I can't remember what they listed as but it wasn't SMC anything. I did have one problem but it wasn't the card. The problem was that the card was detected and I could configure it to work, I could even do a hardware ping (127.0.0.1) but I couldn't touch the network.
Summary: I have 98, and the card works just fine..but when I installed 2000 pro, server, and ME, the card wouldn't be automatically detected in any of those. I tried manually installing the card, but no drivers are on the CD for ME, 2000, or server. There was only a read me that says the card will be automatically detected..which it wasn't. Plus, no phone support? I cannot find any phone number on this cd..and no book or documentation whatsoever came with this card.
Summary: This card was the least expensive card I could find when I needed a NIC, and it works great! I am using it with the Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless 4-Port Cable/DSL Router, which replaced my straight USB connection to my cable modem. Now, my Internet connection feels much faster! The router is also working great, by the way, with my new NetGear MA401 wireless card on my laptop.
