Summary: I bought this adapter to use with my new Tivo, it is recommended on the tivo site. What it didn't say when I ordered was that there are two versions of this device. Version one works and version two does not.
Summary: This thing is just one of the worst pieces of product design ever. The Ethernet connector connects to, essentially a tiny little flap door that was engineered by a crazy person. The slightest touch and it breaks off, at which point the entire adaptor is rendered useless. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
CAUTION: Version 2.1 does not work with all Tivo units

Summary: The currently shipping version of this product is v2.1 which only works with Tivo units running TiVo Software Version 7.2.2 or later. From the tivo website: Linksys USB200M Ver. 1- To distinguish between Ver. 1 and Ver. 2, look on the side of the carton beneath the Package Contents listing. Ver.
Summary: It's great that this adaptor is simply plug-and-play and works perfectly with my Series2 TiVo, however the little door is pretty annoying and I currently have tape wrapped around it to hold the ethernet cord in.
Summary: I read the reviews about people saying that the little door is flimsy and they didn't like it as a laptop accessory, but since I was going to use it for my TiVo Series 2 box and TiVo recommended it I took a deep breath and went for it. Turns out it was a good call.
Summary: I purchased this little gadget for use with an XO laptop which itself has no port for ethernet. Plugged the gadget in, it worked immediately, even w/o installation of software. Before purchase, I had read the complaints about the fragility of the "little door".
Summary: Short version: Don't waste your money on this adapter. Don't even consider it. Long version: Okay, so you would think that connecting your Ethernet wire to a USB hookup would work quickly and efficiently, right? Uh, not so fast.
Summary: I go this for my Tivo Series 2. It works very well with my Tivo and does everything it's supposed to do but the little door on it broke off the first day I used it and couldn't hold the network cable in. I ended up having to tape everything together.
Summary: I also bought one of these for my Tivo from the Tivo store, but before I plugged it in, I broke it when the little hinged door came off. I was able to get it back in proper shape, but it was a slow painful process -- I felt like I was playing with one of those brain teaser toys.

Summary: I decided to move from a wireless Linksys device to a wired Ethernet adapter to improve the speed of TiVo transfers to my PC. I decided to go with the Linksys device over other, more sturdy choices in TiVo's "potentially supported" list since it was recommended and sold by TiVo.
