  • Summary: The 520-T2 consists of separate PHY and MAC chips, which require active cooling. The 520 is the precursor to the 540-T2, which integrates both functions on a single chip and only uses passive cooling. The result is the 540 costs less and consumes less power.

  • Summary: This card can be problematic to install, as intel have had problems with the drivers for this. If of course you are installing this type of hardware you're probably capable of sorting out such niggles rather than complaining it does work properly for certain configurations out of the box. If you have 10Gb infrastructure it is a welcome addition to boost the performance of the data transfers on your network.
