Compatibility Warning

JAMES B., Newegg
27 February 2015
  • Summary: It doesn't deserve a 1 egg rating, but no one will see the warning - which is a complete showstopper - if the review doesn't stand out. It really deserves 5 eggs, or 0 eggs, depending on configuration.
  • Pros: Works flawlessly when it works. I've had these running for years without problems.
  • Cons: Common configurations have compatibility issues. Windows 2012 R2 not supported by Intel - uses Microsoft driver. I have multiple configurations based on Dell PowerEdge servers and Windows Server O/S. But the combination of a Dell T110 II plus this NIC when running under Windows Server 2012 R2 res...

Could not get to work under Windows 8.1

James Van Lommel, Amazon
15 October 2014
  • Summary: I could not get the card to work properly on Windows 8.1 x64. Intel has stated it is only offering "In Box Support" for this card - not full support - which means drivers downloaded from their site will *not* work under Windows 8.1. (Windows 8.0 is okay.

Constant cable unplugged messages

J S Phillips, Amazon
9 April 2014
  • Summary: The headline says it all. Windows XP gave constant error messages. Windows 7 had delays in all phases of networking but no error messages. Replaced it with an older card from an obsolete PC and now have a fast connection.

Constant disconnect/reconnect

Christopher H., Newegg
12 February 2014
  • Summary: Stay away.
  • Pros: It did not bite me and give me rabies when I pulled from packaging. It's a lovely green color.
  • Cons: Ordered 5 of these for a SOHO client Gigabit upgrade (10 of their 15 systems were already Gigabit capable). 4 systems were constantly disconnecting/reconnecting. Finding it hard to believe I'd have 4 out of 5 cards with problems, I RMAd the ProSafe Gigabit switch. Well, I was wrong. New switch ar...

Horrible Product.

Estanislao M., Newegg
4 February 2014
  • Pros: Low cost.
  • Cons: This is the worse network adapter I ever owned, I tried upgrading the driver from the intel site and keep loosing the connection sporadically. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Not compatible with Vista

Tom A., Newegg
5 November 2013
  • Summary: There are drivers for Windows XP, 7 and 8 but incredibly no Vista. Should be plug and play. This is unacceptable in 2013.
  • Pros: Don't know, as Vista drivers are unavailable.
  • Cons: No Vista drivers.

kyle d., Newegg
8 September 2013
  • Summary: wouldnt be so disappointed but intel's customer support seems like a bunch of red tap, horrible phone support hours, read warrenty and still not sure if its covered, ect.
  • Pros: seemed ok at start, only installed for an hour or so
  • Cons: then just died, computer said no driver found. downloaded driver off laptop, installed on my computer, now says no ethernet cable plugged in, changed ether net cable, no joy, changed PCI slots still no joy. looks like i need a new nic

Intel NICs don't always work with MS systems...

William P., Newegg
6 September 2013
  • Pros: An Intel card and cheap.
  • Cons: Does NOT work with WHS2011, no matter what board you have (Gigabyte). You (newegg) should list supported OS's, as it would appear by all comments (and by common sense) that this card would work with just about anything :(

Richard L., Newegg
26 July 2013
  • Pros: No disk, was supposed to be plug and play. Seems little is with any PC yes I am an old Mac guy and I love plug and play not plug, pray and pay pay pay. No wonder IT shops have grown so bloody huge.
  • Cons: Does not work with Vista and Intel site is NO help.

"BLK" means BULK/OEM, no retail stuff like driver discs included!

Mr. B., Newegg
17 May 2013
  • Summary: Two things about other reviewers' negative comments. No, this card will NOT increase your internet speed but it's not this card's fault, it's a clueless user's fault fior thinking it would.
  • Pros: it's a gigabit network card
  • Cons: none so far
