Summary: I bought this as the recommended OEM wireless card for my HP Z420 workstation. The quality of the build appears fine, but I found the "installation CD" unnecessary for Win7 Professional. The real plus of this unit compared to others is the external antenna--which provides about 42" of extension from the card ports. If the antenna had merely stuck out the back of the card, my WiFi reception wouldn't be good enough. I highly recommend this card for HP workstations.
Summary: I bought a few of these because they perform well, even without the antenna connected. I had an HP computer that came with one of these from the factory. It's performance in that machine prompted me to buy more for the other three desktop computers that I have built myself. I think they are a little overpriced, but worth it in the long run.
Summary: I have had only marginal luck with wireless cards for desktops in the past. I use them at our church for remote offices where cables are hard to run or would not be asthetically appealing. This card gets excellent reception with great speeds. I will definitely buy another one when needed.
Summary: Not sure why there was a review that stated it would not work on their Windows 7, but I installed this into my motherboard, hooked everything back up, turned on the computer and it automatically installed all the required drivers and works great. I had an old USB wireless Belkin that would always cause issues with windows 7...BSOD, and this has been much better. I still have full bars and the speed is faster than before.
Summary: It seems like this card is hit or miss. I took a chance and have had nothing but problems getting it to connect using WPA2-Personal security. If I turn the security off, it connects just fine. Anything else it is very intermittent. I spent way too much time trying to get this card working and will be sending it back.
Summary: First of all, make sure you have a PCI express x1 slot available on your motherboard. (PCI express x1 slot is smaller than standard PCI slots) You should know how to line up the card with the motherboard. (look it up on youtube if you need to see a tutorial) The package should contain a wireless card in an anti-static bag, a low profile slot cover (for thinner cases), a CD with the drivers (RT2860) and a wireless Dual Band Dipole Antenna with 1 long wire that splits into...
