useful gadget

Rick B., Newegg

  • Summary: Having an Ethernet connection, albeit via a USB port, is vastly superior to a WiFi connection. I bought this item to restore Ethernet connectivity on a laptop whose onboard Ethernet port was failing.
  • Pros: Drivers are easy to locate on the manufacturers web site! What a relief. The hardware and drivers seem to be stable. Performance is very good considering it's USB 2 device.
  • Cons: This is not a big deal, but whenever I wake the computer up from hibernation with this adapter connected, I get a message about hibernation not having saved the machine state properly, I'm sorry I don't remember the exact message. In any case the resume proceeds normally.

  • Summary: Works great with Apple Macbook Pro. Nice back up for no/bad wireless and much cheaper than firewire ethernet adapter.

Great for Chromebooks

Amazon Customer "photographer, motorcyclist and traveler", Amazon
21 November 2014
  • Summary: This works very well with Chromebooks. I purchased it because I use my Acer Chromebook for some network and systems administration tasks and often wifi isn't available for the networks I need. There was zero setup, I plugged it in and then it was in my network connection list. Easy-peasy!

Works like a charm

DAVID B., Newegg
19 November 2014
  • Summary: I just purchased a second unit to keep with my Surface 2 Pro. The first was for my Lenovo Yoga. It comes in handy when I need direct connectivity for configuring routers, firewalls, and other tech devices that don't lend themselves to wireless configuration or connectivity.
  • Pros: Small, inexpensive, automatically sensed and set up by both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
  • Cons: None

User Review

Dan B., Newegg

  • Pros: Needed an extra ethernet port on the little atom board I'm using as a linux router, this device works great. Using Debian - Jessie (currently testing) and works without any issues. A note about Edimax, I've used their little usb wireless nubs and they seem to work great as well. Good quality and ...
