Seek other Wireless HW

Brendan S., Newegg
10 August 2012
  • Summary: I think this is pretty pricey for a USB with no ext antenna and issues. I have several Wireless routers: Vz Actiontec, EnGenius ESR600H, and an old Linksys WRT54GL. WPA2 fails on all of them with this client. Money is better spent on a higher rated adapter. BUYER BEWARE!
  • Pros: When it works, it works well. The range is decent for USB stick with built in antenna.
  • Cons: Its doesn't drop connection - it maintains a physical link. There appears to be a problem with WPA2 encryption such that it appears to lose connection. It has link but no data xfer. I have to reconnect to xfer. This comes in several versions. I have the oldest I think. The client software is medi...

Works with Ubuntu 11.10

Kevin D., Newegg
10 November 2011
  • Pros: Works out of the box with Ubuntu 11.10, kernel 3.0. Good signal strength. Dual Band, 2.4 / 5 Ghz, so real N throughput. Comes with USB extension cable, and a little stand, so you can position it for best signal.
  • Cons: A little bulky, but mine sticks out the back of my desktop, under the desk, so not really a problem for me.

DOES work on Win7...

John J., Newegg
26 October 2011
  • Summary: THIS PRODUCT *WILL* WORK WITH WINDOWS 7. All you need to do is to access the included driver cd and have windows look under the equivalent Vista version's folder during the new hardware search. It just takes a little digging, but is not hard to find.
  • Pros: Dependable -- purchased back in 2009 and have not had any problems since. I have updated the firmware, however, since purchasing.
  • Cons: A little bulky when trying to stick directly in the back of a PC.

NOT compatible with Windows 7

Joshua M., Newegg
23 October 2011
  • Summary: If belkin refuses to make a compatible driver for Win 7, why the heck is it labeled "windows 7 compatible" on the box? False advertising.
  • Pros: Workks fine (when it works).
  • Cons: Drivers are incompatible with windows 7. You can set it up using ralink drivers while in xp compatibility mode, but the device is lost everytime you reboot and you must repeat.

No windows 7 support

Michael G., Newegg
17 July 2011
  • Summary: Belkin needs to updated the driver.
  • Pros: Build quality is good.
  • Cons: None of the drivers allow this device to work on a windows 7 32bit computer. Latest driver is dated back to 2009.

Lynne K., Newegg
12 April 2011
  • Summary: This item was shipped to me WITHOUT the USB CRADLE or USB CABLE. The listed image is incorrect. Newegg will not change the product description. I've used this item before with a cradle and it's serviceable.
  • Pros: Good signal strength Easy installation
  • Cons: Gets very warm quickly Blue activity indicator LED is very bright Has to be undocked/docked to renew wireless connection periodically

Not Win 7 Compatiable

Chad W., Newegg
16 June 2010
  • Summary: Never Belkin, never again.
  • Pros: It establishes a good strong connection under Windows XP SP3. Range is lackluster.
  • Cons: Does not work with Win 7, and the tech support from Belkin is horrid! I used to like and trust this brand, but not anymore. The fact that they will not make Win7 drivers for this device is ridiculous! It is still sold on store shelves and online, and for more than $40, support shouldn't already b...

Not good for the price

Custom B., Newegg
11 June 2010
  • Summary: The con might be due to my OS (XP 64) but I don't see why that would be an issue. If it wasn't for the con, I would of given 5 eggs.
  • Pros: Installation, signal strength & speeds are great.
  • Cons: The device stops working randomly, the blue LED light either turns off or just stays solid and you lose all connectivity. You have to unplug it and plug it back in. This happens on average 1-3 times per hour.

15 March 2010
  • Summary: I wouldn't trust Belkin with my money again.
  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: Failed to be recognized by any OS/Driver combination after 2-3 months. Threw it away.

marvin l., Newegg
23 February 2010
  • Summary: Had this on my computer and went to W7, then this would not work. After trying for about an hour to figure out why (who would believe one of the main networking company's would not make a driver for an N adapter BUT instead would try to make you buy a new one to just get more of your money out of a...
  • Pros: Works OK on all but W7 OS
