ASUS Drops the Ball (Hey - it's football season)

P J Penrose, Amazon
6 October 2014
  • Summary: As this is a product review, it will include the quality of customer service: I bought this to connect to my 5.0Ghz signal through my Windows 8.1 desktop. And yes, I downloaded the latest drivers from the ASUS site. While the unit picked up my 2.4 signal, it picked up no 5.0 signals.

  • Summary: I found the product a disappointment not because it doesn't work but because of the rebate process. I thought after filling out a bunch of data online my rebate would be processed but no. After a few weeks I get an e-mail that my rebate is not being processed because I have not mailed in my UPC.

Good hardware, terrible software caused crashes every 10 minutes

Gin Yum, Amazon
19 February 2014
  • Summary: Asus makes fantastic routers and I've been using them for years. Naturally, I looked to get an ASUS network adapter to go along with my N66u router. Unfortunately, this adapter seems to have terrible software issues and in my case, it caused my computer to crash with the BSOD every 10-30 minutes.

Worked for a month then degraded

Nick D., Amazon
28 August 2012
  • Summary: I bought this with the ASUS RT-N53. At first it worked great, connected quickly to the 5Ghz band. The product is a bit dated at this point so there are no firmware updates (I have checked).

Unsigned Drivers for Windows 7 x64

Nicky 9D, Amazon
27 August 2013
  • Summary: I bought this adapter to make up for the lack of Wireless N support on my Asus EEE box which I use as my HTPC. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and when I installed the drivers (provided on the CD) for the adapter, I was given errors that the drivers are unsigned.

Windows 8.1

Jim, Amazon
30 December 2011
  • Summary: This is my second dongle like this and I bought it because it is dual channel. ASUS are a bit slow in releasing a updated driver for windows 8.1 so I am stuck with a single channel device until then.

Doesn't get the job done

Andrei, Amazon
30 December 2011
  • Summary: This product doesn't work out of the box, and even when you get it working the results are far from great. On Windows, the drivers installed by default when you plug it in are almost useless, as you can't see any WiFi network.

I am sure the device is great when it works but at this moment in time

Robert S., Amazon
30 December 2011
  • Summary: It hasn't been a pleasant experience trying to get this device to work with my computer. It took over half an hour to get it to work with Window 8 and now Windows 10 doesn't even want to know! ironically a cheap and cheerful wifi dongle i bought for my Raspberry Pi worked with my pc straight away.
