Summary: Best camera that I've purchased. NOT HD quality - 640x400 Night-vision works well. HomeMonitor software is AWESOME! For each movement, it rewinds the recording so you "see it coming". HomeMonitor saves your movement recordings for 7 days for FREE - what a great service. Works very well with our iPhone Apps. Can hear and watch movement video recordings or live on App or on website. I'm buying another!
Summary: The initial setup went OK, but things just kept getting worse. I had the camera up and running and in the middle of the night I tried to get it to record me entering the room. The light was on green and I had the motion detection on. It didn't record anything and I was in the room at least 10 seconds. not a good start. I tried updating the firmware to see if that would help. It would not update via WiFi (tried 3 times).
Summary: I bought 2 Y-cams since all the reviews claimed "easy to setup" - this is not the case with the Linksys EA6500. It would have been easier to use port forwarding than to try to simplify the set up with these cameras. I would not recommend this product with newer a/c routers. I have sent them back and will consider more sophisticated cameras even if I have to configure port forwarding since I have a static IP address for my router.
Summary: Easy setup, the motion detection and free 7-day cloud recording are great! For real-time monitoring it would work very well, and for recording too (if it can be mounted out of reach of anyone being recorded before an intruder can disable it). The white-balance (indoor incandescent light) and frame-rate are not so good, and there is no way to turn off the status lights on the front. They are likely to attract notice (can be covered with tape).
Summary: I bought HomeMonitor to assist my 90 year mother to continue living independently in her own home as long and safely as possible. Her bedroom camera extends our ability to watch over her during the night time hours when she is alone and most vulnerable. The motion detection feature immediately notifies us of her awakenings and movements at night and we can remotely watch her in live view even if the lights are off and the room is dark.
Summary: But... It was hard to set up on my wifi network once it was set up it just kept dropping the connection even though I restarted it numerous times. It had to go back! Gold box dud. UPDATE! Ok so y-cam customer service replaced the camera because obviously the first one was a dud. This camera works great. I put it on the wifi without issue the camera has been up without ANY drop offs. I can see my home on my computer or phone.
Summary: We have a remote summer camp in area prone to seasonal break ins. The Y-cam has all the right feature to monitor our premises, plus we can see what the dogs have been up to when we leave them while shopping for supplies.
Summary: The camera doesn't have internal storage and doesn't take any images. It depends on the internet connection to the servers of Y-cam and that's where the problem starts. The camera is clearly recognizable and the bright green status led makes it easy to find for any criminal. While motion recordings of moths or spiders are working fine, a real burglar is very likely to detect the camera and disrupt its operation (pull it of the wall, disconnect power, ...).
First Impression: Excellent; Second Impression: Just OK

Summary: I just rec'd and installed this camera at my shop. So far, it's everything that I wanted in a security camera. Here's my first impression after an hour of use (and with no experience with competing units). My situation: I have a small workshop, over which I don't control exclusive access. There's about ten other people (and their friends) that have easy access. I was looking for a camera that could help me, in the highly unlikely case of a problem.
