Summary: We bought this camera to setup as a baby monitor. It works wonderfully for this purpose. The tablet app works well for checking on the baby when he sets off the audio baby monitor at night, but can't be used exclusively as a baby monitor because the image will tend to freeze after 5-10 minutes of viewing. More than once, I have looked at an image of a sleeping baby while hearing him cry through our audio baby monitor.
Pros: Excellent camera, easy setup, connects to wireless network and is easily accessible from anywhere on the network. Excellent night vision quality.
Cons: "Free App for smart phones" charges to unlock all features. App freezes after 5-10 minutes of use.
Summary: this was needed for monitoring our front porch after a package "disappeared". set-up software never worked, even after wiring directly to set-up, it could not "find" the camera in the set-up. ended up using my router directly to find it. remote access instructions are not that useful (-1 star), but after trying several searches, I realized that our internet provider blocked the default port (80). once i update that, it finally worked.
Summary: at less than $50 it is hard to find much wrong with these cameras. They are easy to set up and work pretty well. Keep in mind that the IR lights glow red and that the wifi option only works with WPS routers. If you don't have a WPS router you will have to hardwire them. Good software. Only complaint is that the app is very difficult to set up.
Summary: How to make it work with WiFi (I have a Windows 8.1 64-bit machine):
Pros: This is a tough one... It works? Kinda?
Cons: Almost unusable due to excessive noise on audio channel. I mean, it obliterates everything else. A constant static/chop noise that will drive anyone insane. It's obviously tied to the WiFi as it sends data. So, it's a design issue at the Layer 0/1 level and won't be resolved with a firmware update. They need to replace them all. AKA: recall.
Summary: I bought this to go into my separate carport. I spent HOURS trying to get this to work. I called their support line, but after ten minutes and two pick-ups only to put me immediately back on hold, I gave up. I first tried to connect to the camera wirelessly. That did not work so I plugged it into the modem. That connected it, but it never focused. It was just a blurry mess. Believe me, I tried everything in my arsenal to get this thing to work.
Summary: Would not recommend if planning on using audio
Pros: Easy Setup and good video quality, LEDs can be turned off, small form factor.
Cons: Getting a lot of feedback noise on both wired and wireless connection. I updated to the latest firmware which did not help. I am using this as a baby cam so I was looking forward to using the audio but with the noise its just not possible.
Summary: Easy to set up, great picture and even has audio as well, was surprised at the quality the only downfall I've had is the software that comes with the cameras is a booger to connect to the cameras it's easy to view using the IP address but have been having problems connecting to the software that comes with them. Still reading through manual sure I'll figure it out soon.
Summary: Love this device for use in our 11 month old room. We had an older model handheld unit that we thought was great, until we got this. The quality far surpassed the quality of the one made as a baby monitor. We have the web interface up on a screen in our living room, so that we can keep an eye on her after she goes to bed. I setup forwarding so I can see it anywhere in the world from the TrendNet app on our iphones.
Summary: Unit failed first setup. Password could not be reset. Tech assist. confirmed defective unit. Unfortunatly it was 1 day past return date and had to return to Mfgr. for repair. Seems like a good product I guess I got the lemon?
