Motion Detection.. What a joke!

Lee-Ann B., Newegg
5 February 2013
  • Pros: Easy set-up, nice functionality
  • Cons: No time-stamps, The motion detection simply takes a picture every interval, it doesn't detect motion at all, changing the location doesn't help, changing the sensitivity doesn't help, the camera emailed me 350 pictures of a blank chair in the course of two hours. What good is this!

TV-IP121WN V2.0R

Anonymous, Newegg
29 March 2012
  • Summary: Very unhappy with Trendnet's latest and greatest WN series. I am going to try to return it. NO MORE FOR ME if the time date stamp is gone, I don't want to have to run their software to do that, I want that choice to be in the cam so I can send a pic to the server or E-Mail video stamped, OR NOT!
  • Pros: Comes with Secureview Pro software 2.01.
  • Cons: I have 16 Trendnet TV-IPXXX cams, several 110s, 1 121w, 3 312w's, 2 312's and 2 422w's. This one has the worst picture of all the cams I have, the new version firmware is missing a very important feature which is time date stamp overlay on the 121wn 1.2.2 build 23 firmware. Video/Audio *Camera Ov...

Firmware upgrade required

Curtis G., Newegg
10 February 2012
  • Pros: Straightforward setup. Good build quality and features for the price. Free mobile app access - but see below.
  • Cons: Required a flash upgrade to perform documented functionality - direct URL access to the video feed & to work with their IOS app. Revision docs stated "security update".

Perfect for Baby monitor

Mark G., Newegg
24 January 2012
  • Pros: After looking at 20 or so wireless cameras I came across this one which is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a baby monitor that I could use with my android phone so I can listen and check on our baby. Setup the camera just as the instructions said. then turned connected my android phone t...

Easy Peasy!

Stephen S., Newegg
1 September 2011
  • Summary: I've been looking for a good wireless webcam since I saw the price of standalone video baby monitors. ($150-$200) I went with Trendnet because I've purchased a few of their print servers and they work great.
  • Pros: -Easy to set up. All you need to do is follow instructions and have a little knowledge of how your router is set up. -Free iTunes and Android market apps. (Looks great on a Xoom!) -Website viewer (more in other thoughts) -One way audio. (really nice for a baby monitor) -Infrared lens -Motion dete...
  • Cons: SecurView Pro on the PC is kind of garbage. I just stick to the web browser when viewing on the computer. Unfortunately to get the full functionality of the website viewer you need to use IE.

Useless in the dark

Stuart H., Newegg
12 August 2011
  • Summary: This might work better with an IR floodlight but for the money , assuming you don't need wireless, I'd buy the TP-Link SC3430 and an IR Flood.
  • Pros: Setup was quick (I used web setup) Wireless 11n worked flawlessly UI is responsive and seems stable iOS viewer app
  • Cons: IR LEDs only effective out to 60cm (work at 850nm) VGA resolution is limiting Internet Explorer / ActiveX required for setup of alarm events Runs warm Power cable is only about 5ft / 160cm Not PoE

Trendnet Camera

Amelia W., Newegg
11 July 2011
  • Summary: I will have to RMA back to newegg which I really do not want to if I can not get wireless to work.
  • Pros: Great Camera ! Works wired with very little problems.
  • Cons: Wireless is unable to connect even with the one-touch connection. This is why I had bought this product so I could monitor my backyard (it is useless unless I use a 250ft cord).Technical support ? Well I was chatting with a nice lady from a very poor connection in another country who you could ha...

Impressed

Christopher T., Newegg
19 March 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this camera for our second home despite mediocre reviews here and on other sites. Other reviews reported instability, especially when connected over wireless. Some even stated it would not work with WPA2, despite the spec saying otherwise.
  • Pros: Android app works well (search for SecureView in the market) Night vision works pretty well Config was simple (see cons about ActiveX plugin) Java applet for viewing on any cross-platform browser Video settings like IR sensitivity, frame rate, resolution, brightness, contrast, saturation, and lig...
  • Cons: Three features require an ActiveX plugin, meaning one must use Internet Explorer for those three features. They are: administratively configuring the screen areas to monitor for motion detection, zooming in and out while watching the picture, and enabling sound while watching the picture. All oth...

Great camera, strong IR LEDs

PETER P., Newegg
6 March 2011
  • Summary: Most of the issues I have with this camera could probably be addressed with a firmware update (assuming the hardware is capable of managing two separate network configurations for the different connections).
  • Pros: Good image quality for 640x480 (resolution isn't everything!), both day and night. When the camera is focused properly, images are very crisp and the subject is clear enough for my user (who is legally blind) to perceive and understand. Seems to get very good wifi reception; it can reach a USB do...
  • Cons: IP address configuration is screwy -- no separate configuration for wired/wireless; if you set the IP for the wired network, it tries to use the same IP on wireless! Wireless security doesn't seem very cooperative and doesn't support WPA2, only WPA. Couldn't get it to connect to an old Mac runnin...
