Best image quality and low light performance in a small size

FlyingPolarBear, Amazon
20 February 2012
  • Summary: I've installed at least 50 of these BB-HCM715A cameras. This is one of my all time favorite security cameras because it has such good optics in such a small package. I can mount them above residential front doors and under roof overhangs keeping the flow of the home aesthetics, without looking bulky and industrial. The 715/735 series is superior to the prior models because of the new Panasonic MOS sensor chip.

Not a real megapixel network camera!

Vasastan, Amazon
24 March 2011
  • Summary: WARNING: This is not a true megapixel network camera. To my dismay, after ordering and installing two of these cameras, I found 1280x960 pics can only be viewed if most other vital functions in the camera are turned off, and only through the direct web interface page. Timed picture transmission, motion detection, sound detection, and external triggers can NOT be used, at all, when the 1280x960 picture size is enabled.

Excellent camera, Buy an 8GB SDHC card as well

R. Spraggs, Amazon

  • Summary: Great Camera, fast motion and lots of configurable options. Buy an 8Gb SDHC card for it so that you have a repository of images even if you don't get it configured to record by FTP or using the software right away.

Excellent camera with superb video quality

dgdoc, Amazon
3 January 2010
  • Summary: I purchased the BB-HCM715 after looking at several other models, including the BB-HCM705. Was strongly considering the HCM-705 because it can be ceiling/surface mounted and is not as obtrusive as the HCM-715. However, the specifications for the BB-HCM705 don't clearly call out the fact that there is no Pan/Tilt mechanism, it is all done digitally. With this in mind, I went with the HCM-715 in order to have additional Pan/Tilt/Zoom capabilities.
