Summary: I attempted the simplest thing, powered and hooked it to my router (no wifi, no password). I was able to log in camera web interface. However, i could not watch the live video on my Mac because it clearly told me it required (the windows technology) ActiveX! I have a similar camera (D-link), and it works fine on Mac (via Java). Also, it does not need any special software for live snapshots (as opposed to live video), just refresh the browser.
Summary: This is my first security camera. It works well for what I need at the moment. Down the road I might upgrade in order to get better night recording. It does sometimes get hung up and emails of photos stop coming, but I just unplug it, and plug it back in. The wireless connection resets itself, and only takes a few minutes to resume working. If it had better night vision recording to the sd card, I'd be 100% satisfied.
Pros: sends captured photos to your email account & Ipod app.
Summary: We bought 4 cameras about a month ago. It took about 5 minutes to setup each after getting them out of the box. The cameras were purchased when the pricing was about $99 each. We were able to use the Lorex Mobile App for the Android Samsung Galaxy III phone. We also loved the multiple options for recording and playback, on our PC, and Mobile App. The Date and Time stamp on the video playbacks was a great feature.
Summary: I would say this camera is perfect..first very essy to set up ...I love this bec you can monitor your kids, house live video via my smartphone using apps and you can figure the setting ..the image is perfect and night vision was perfect even its si dark you still can see the image perfect...you can talk to your love ones just connect speaker into it...the design is simple but executive style..
Summary: I really wanted to like this camera. I've been looking for a small camera to supplement my security system. I had configured the camera by first connecting it directly to my router and every went smoothly. Picture quality was pretty good. Once I disconnected the camera to use via wireless that's when I ran into problems.
Pros: Good camera if connected directly to router
Cons: Very poor connectivity to wifi. Drops out all the time and does not reconnect.
Summary: I was looking a camera that provided Dropcam features without the $9.99/mo access fee and the Lorex LNC116 certainly delivers. Cameras are easy to setup. Connect to Ethernet to add camera to network (Step A of included instructions) then use iPhone app to enable WiFi connection (Step B), unplug Ethernet cable from camera and move it anywhere you'd like within 10 feet of a power outlet.
Summary: I tried. Really, I did. But at some point, you just realize that the company doesn't care at all about service or support, so I returned my camera and bought a competing brand. Emailing them gets no reply. Setting up a support ticket online gets you a "ticket number" but nobody ever contacts you back to help.
Summary: This camera is great for checking on things when away. The motion-detection system offers sensitivity settings as well as a few storage or email options. The camera doesn't "look like a camera" and is less intimidating and noticeable for visitors (and burglars) than large lens alternatives.
Pros: Easy to set up (iOS), decent picture (check specs for your needs before complaining!), many toggles for pic/sound
Cons: Bracket and rear power inlet (would like to mount flat)
Summary: Short story: Don't believe the reviews. This product is way better than all the other ones at this price point. Hands down. Long story: I was skeptical when I read all the reviews. I understand that some people have technological challenges, but I must say, this was easy to install and set up. I'm totally new to in-home security, and I'm exceptionally happy I bought this product.
Pros: Ease of install, ease of remote viewing/setting changes
Summary: I wish I had purchased additional units. I hooked it up at home in just mere minutes to test it and then brought it to Thailand with me. I have it broadcasting fom here and it is amazing. I have numerous people in America watching live video from Thailand. It works fantastic in total darkness and the iPad/iPhone free apps are great. I will leave this one in Thailand and buy more cameras upon my return to the States in September.
