Summary: Don't buy this product, its outdated and doesn't work properly with the security systems in todays Operating Systems. So you have to leave the security off to make it work. It was so outdated we had to give up on it. Even with a Wireless G router.
Summary: I would give this a ZERO star if I could. The internet cam is a pile of junk. I began setting up the camera, and as I got to the end the found out the junk did not work at all.. SAVE YOUR MONEY, buy another one.
Summary: I was looking for a camera and ended up with this one just because it had a good price. I would never recommend this camera to anyone. A lot of people complain about configuration. I'm an IT professional and didn't have any problem with that. I've been using it for several years.
Summary: I wish I could give it a negative number.
Camera arrived defective. Would not connect wirelessly. Software only works with XP! Called customer support - Linksys agent said he would have to charge me! Camera had arrived 30 minutes ago .. new in the box ...
Summary: I have two Linksys IP cameras. This one was a terrible disappointment. The other one is fine. As stated by others, the WVC54GC only works with ActiveX in an Internet Explorer browser. No Firefox. I had to call support to find out how to get images to show in Internet Explorer.
Summary: Overlooking the fact that one of the cameras arrived without a power supply, I set the other two up. There are some bugs in the software that caused the PC to error out. After a reasonably straightforward setup, the cameras eventually worked for about an hour before dropping off the system and...
Summary: This is the first wireless webcam I've owned, so my opinions are only worth as much as that. It is possible to use a program called csCamCap for Win32 to capture pictures, or use mplayer on the CLI. The video stream can also be viewed with VLC also.
Pros: Not much, it's cheap I guess. The reason I bought it was to setup a simple pet cam in the room where my new kitteh was. I wanted to monitor his feeding, etc while away from home to see if he really was eating (he wasn't while I was nearby), and he was. Now he is 1 year old, and I don't need to ke...
Cons: There currently isn't a built-in way to have it snapshot a picture every x # of seconds and save the images to a folder, which is what most people want to do with it. Furthermore, the built-in web interface does not have the same functionality as the included software (which is Win32 only). The m...
Summary: I think if Linksys tech support cause the damage they should be libale and should replace the product. Now I have a $100.00 paper weight. Don't but the LINKSYS WVC54GC 320x240,160x128 Wireless Camera It doesn't work without being wired.
Pros: Works well wired not the best picture.
Cons: I bought a new computer and was not able to get the camera to work wireless. Called tech support for help, and was told the camera was backward compatible and just install the software for the newer camera. Well now the tech support say the tech gave me the wrong information and now the camera no...
Summary: I may try WVC54GCA only because I subscribed to Sololink DDNS but this camera left a bad taste in my mouth.
Pros: Software is easy to setup. Sololink DDNS is great.
Cons: This camera is useless in low light conditions. No adjustment what-so-ever for brightness or contrast. Sent it to Linksys and was sent a replacement with marginal improvement and no wireless function. Could not get it to acquire an ip-address even though my laptop easily acquired one.
Summary: I purchased this thinking I could hook it up in less than an hour like most devices I have (and I have many) but nothing has gone right. I am now at MONTH TWO futzing with it - yes I tried support, yes I tried community forums, and still won't allow me to use the worthless subscription to Sololink.
