Good camera, but wish it would pick up wireless signal better
23 May 2009
Summary: I bought this camera to see who was at the front door of my house. The only place to put it was from a window with a view of the front door. The distance from the wireless antenna to the camera is not that far, about 50 feet. Unfortunately, the signal needs to go through 4 or 5 walls to get there.
Summary: I cannot add much to the large number of comments about the difficulty in setting this up. I'm an electrical engineer myself that (with some help) is hosting web sites at my home on a linux server and has configured many devices on my network over the years.
Summary: I was looking for a camera that would let me watch my house while I was away, and this product seemed to be the best bet. Unfortunately, the product just wasn't as robust as I hoped for. The initial setup of the camera was really simple and took 10 minutes max.
Summary: I've owned this camera for a few months now and it seems stable when connected to my wired LAN but often froze when I operated it on my wireless WPA LAN. But then the wireless part of the camera stopped working completely after about a month so now I leave it wired all the time.
Summary: I bought the D-link wireless 950g first then I bought this one to see which one I like better. Well... I like the D-link better because of the internal server software. With the D-link I can set up recording to my network drive without having the PC on.
Summary: This item has been a nightmare! Before I purchased this camera, I contacted Linksys sales and asked the following questions: 1. Does it have the capability to record activity to the hard drive of a computer? 2. Is it wireless? 3. Does it need the internet to function? 4.
Summary: We purchased this camera for security reasons. The good: The network setup was fairly straightforward, I did one camera via the included Linksys software and one by accessing the cameras firmware directly.
