look some where else

Calvin L., Newegg
13 October 2011
  • Summary: my cheap $60 zmodo IP CAM beat this by a mile.
  • Pros: works with android software and easy to setup. apple Ipad, iphone support.
  • Cons: no night vision, build in software doesn't work with other ipcam, poor image quality.

Edimax IC 7000 cam - good res.

Don F., Newegg
6 September 2011
  • Summary: The "user / operator" interface for users other than the administrator, is somewhat limited. The pan / tilt interface isn't available (as of course the other more administrative options aren't available). In the operator mode it is possible to pan / tilt using a drag and drop mouse action.
  • Pros: I have used a number of IP cams and webcams. Of the IP cams I've used, this has the highest resolution (1.3 M pixels vs. typical 0.3 M), and the best color definition for a moderately priced IP camera. On sale it appears to be a very good value. Image quality / color is comparable to my logitech ...
  • Cons: Low light performance is the poorest of the cameras I have, but the cameras that I have do well in low light (e.g. ABS and Foscam), have terrible color definition (e.g. trees and grasses are purple, etc.). It may be a function of the physics of the more basic image detectors that ones that are IR...

Great Camera, Awesome Support

Michael M., Newegg
11 August 2011
  • Summary: Great customer support. Sent email to support about how to access the camera programmatically and had an answer in a few hours with documentation and links to examples. Well worth the money.
  • Pros: • Super Easy Configuration • Nice Web Interface • Good first time setup “admin” utility • Good quality pictures and video. Better than most webcams I own. (Only the new Microsoft HD webcams are better) • Not bad in low light, no worse than any webcam • Very smooth video over both LAN and WLAN. • ...
  • Cons: • Lens is a bit too much of a zoom, wish they had an option for wide angle. • Movement is a little slow and only stops in predetermined increments. The increments overlap so you don’t miss anything but you can’t fine tune the position. However I may need to play around a bit more.

Good when it works

Andrew W., Newegg
24 May 2011
  • Pros: Fairly cheep price when on special; full featured
  • Cons: Buggy software; Frequent lock-ups; eventually the wireless just died; now it will not display anything other than a blur. In general it seems very poor quality.

Out of Stock

Timothy K., Newegg
19 March 2011
  • Summary: When I bought this Cam to test it out I had no idea Newegg was just selling out there stock. I would not have bought it had I known I could not get more to complete my project if I liked it.
  • Pros: Clear Quality, Easy Setup, Affordable Price
  • Cons: Newegg may or may not continue to stock this device and are currently out. Very unfortunate to find a good product and then have Newegg not stock it.

Edimax IC7000PTn Web cam

William H., Newegg
27 January 2011
  • Summary: Absolutely great company support. For the price....it's a great buy.
  • Pros: Best wireless/cat camera I have. The software is easy to install and get up running. You can see the quality at http://w9ol-towercam.webhop.org Presently cam 4 but look for the title at the top.
  • Cons: Focus ring is small and recessed, takes a fine touch. I used a small screwdriver on the edge of the ring to slowly adjust

Great Customer Service

Chris P., Newegg
11 January 2011
  • Summary: Only used it in wired mode, but great camera for the price. I would have probably rated it 4 eggs, but the customer service experience I got from Edimax this week made me move it to 5 stars. I apparently threw out my mounting base in the mix of Christmas boxes.
  • Pros: Inexpensive PTZ Good quality in good lighting Responsive PTZ Works with monitoring software. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
  • Cons: Quality drops off in poor lighting

Edimax IC-7000PT camera

Kathleen E., Newegg
17 December 2010
  • Summary: I haven't used the ftp or e-mail functions, or the motion sensor so can't report on those.
  • Pros: Accessible from any computer, works best in IE, but also works (except sound) in Firefox and a friend was able to access the camera from her phone. She could even use the pan and tilt. Great customer service, I didn't know enough about wireless networks to set it up, but called the toll free numb...
  • Cons: Grainy image in low light situations...but that seems to be pretty standard with webcams. Sound doesn't work in a Firefox browser.

Not worth it

Richard D., Newegg
17 December 2010
  • Summary: If you were to use this in a bright setting and didn't need built-in motion detection, it might be OK. But if that is the case, you can probably spend less on another camera.
  • Pros: Good image quality as long as you have very good lighting. Web interface is feature-rich.
  • Cons: Without good light, actually without A LOT of light, the camera will show almost nothing. Built in motion sensor is not consistent or reliable. Product box advertises iPhone access but I could not get this to work at all.
