Decent affordable POE IP Camera

Rex C., Amazon
10 May 2014
  • Summary: Pro: Affordable Price, Decent Image Quality, Perform as advertised. Con: Menu Navigation is manageable, but not as user friendly as couple other models from competitors. It would be nice if the size can be trimmed down a little.

Great for linux users

Termina, Amazon
9 December 2013
  • Summary: Disclaimer: I don't use any of the cloud software or bundled software Camera has great Zoneminder support (and no doubt motion too). Picture is crisp and clear. Great picture, especially compared to the old 640x480 cameras we've used in the past. PoE is a plus

Well lit areas only!

Todd Johnson, Amazon
23 November 2013
  • Summary: Works great in well lit areas. It always tries to connect to the cloud service without an option to block it. All an attacker needs is the MAC, username, and password. I just block my camera from accessing the Internet or sending to the Internet in my firewall.

Nice Video Quality..It works better than expected

JC, Amazon
27 June 2013
  • Summary: Good little camera for the money. I am extremely impressed with the picture quality of this camera, especially at this price point. The setup on the camera was very simple. I set it up and saw the live streaming video on my laptop in about 5 minutes. Free CMS Software allows me to record video.

Picture quality with POE

hawaii shopper, Amazon
31 May 2013
  • Summary: I only rated the picture because I'm using the camera with Blue Iris software (I didn't use the software it came with so I'm not rating the cloud feature, as well as the email, motion, and FTP options). I have Panasonic, Toshiba, Foscam, Trendnet, and Vivotek cameras.

Phuoc H., Newegg
9 April 2013
  • Summary: Over all for $40 i didn't expect must from it. But i will not purchase this again, the D-link ip camera is little bit more expensive, but it work great for me so far. I own 2 D-link ip camera for more than a year, and i have no problem with them.
  • Pros: Own this EDIMAX ipcam for more than a month, possitive about this device are: 1. set up is not complicated. 2. picture quality is ok, not great. 3. cheap 4. SD card lot for storage.
  • Cons: this ipcam work fine when i connect it with the ethernet cable. but when it try to connect it with wifi, it work fine when i put it 4 or 5 feet away from my router. But when I take it to my kid room and it start getting problem. the connection keep drop for couple minutes then it automatic connec...

nice camera

Stephen D., Newegg
21 March 2013
  • Summary: It would be nice if they would do a firmware upgrade to allow 3 minute video recording. Still got this on sale for $40. Glad I did it. Upgrade firmware as soon as you install the camera. It makes the wireless connection set up easier.
  • Pros: Nice picture. Takes and stores pictures or short (1 minute) videos on sd card. No need to have computer on for this. My router crashed and it still watched things. Once router was restarted, camers did not connect right away. When I returned 10 hours later, camera was connected and no lapse of mo...
  • Cons: It seems like the maximum time for short video recording to sd card is only 1 minute. # minutes woulld be much better.

Needs some fiddling

Jason H., Newegg
15 March 2013
  • Summary: Got this on a whim, it was cheap. As others said, the camera is not configured as "1.3 megapixel" out of the box (it's 640x480), and there's no way to do it on the web GUI. There are some super-secret CGI commands that you can run to set the resolution, compression, etc, and once you do that, you...
  • Pros: Cheap (on sale) Decent image quality Web-based setup (worked on a Mac)
  • Cons: A little big (used to Axis cameras) No way to set all parameters from the GUI (see below)
