piece of junk

Gary S., Newegg
12 February 2013
  • Pros: I can't think of any. It barely works.
  • Cons: Poor image quality. Security is lacking; anyone can access main web page and see video, even though user and admin passwords are set. After a firmware upgrade, the IP address changes to it's default (192.168.2.3), which is not simple to fix if that doesn't work on your subnet. Their PC admin tool...

Deceptive Claims

Sean O., Newegg
30 May 2012
  • Summary: Mobile devices have hardware decoders for h264. They can handle 720p/30 smoothly without straining the battery. But feed it MJPEG and you're lucky to get 5fps for low res as its CPU maxes out and drains power. So its mobile apps are worthless.
  • Pros: Price. No WiFi issues.
  • Cons: The manual is terrible with broken English. The software design is awful. It forces you to use Internet Explorer. You can't turn off the audio. UPnP doesn't even work. h264 is limited to IE and won't work with iOS/Android apps. And get this - motion detection and the scheduler can't trigger norma...

Local Only

Cameron N., Newegg
26 June 2011
  • Summary: I really wanted to love this camera. I have a heavy background in building PC's, computer software support and IT. I absolutely could not get this camera to work except on the local network. First, the camera had to be upgraded to firmware 1.9 (from 1.5), as the wireless would not connect.
  • Pros: Works great for local network.
  • Cons: You need advanced certification in IT to configure it. Documentation provided is lacking and unclear.

192.168.2.3

Steven K., Newegg
18 April 2011
  • Summary: I won't use the included Windows software, I use motion running on Debian Squeeze machine to record from my cameras. I will be using the jpeg path to capture images. I wish manufacturers would quit making the default camera interface require Windows-Only/ActiveX.
  • Pros: Priced great for the specs.
  • Cons: Windows based client software is included. Default camera interface appears to need windows/ActiveX. Even though camera is running GNU/linux inside - not sure what these people are thinking. Default ip address seems to be 192.168.2.3 (printed on back). This causes a problem for my home-level rout...

Caro para lo que ofrece

Edu, amazon.es
8 April 2012
