Excerpt: This seems like a good cam from a trusted name. I like the D-Link hardware and cloud features. However, I purchased it for my Staples Connect system and the integration and the information could be better. When I first added it to the system, all I could do is view the camera. My goal was to use the motion detection to control other things and to be able to record when triggered from this or another motion detector. After I added it and removed it from the system a couple...
Great camera, does every thing that it says, a bear to set up.
23 June 2014
Summary: Purchased the camera with great expectations, tried to set up with my limited knowledge of static ip, dynamic ip, upnp enabling, and dynamic dns workaround. It finally worked through a third party remotely working on my computer and calling the support staff twice, which I learned a lot from and where very helpful. Like I said great little camera with all the setting I wanted.
Summary: Really like the camera and it's feature set. Unfortunately, after upgrading the firmware to the latest version (1.23) it no longer recorded to SD Card and would not send email notifications. I have read that this is a firmware bug and have confirmed this by down-leveling the camera to version 1.22 which restored this functionality.
Summary: This camera works good but doesn't have a very wide view, something like 40-50 deg. So you may need a few for each room. Also you can record on the SD card, but it still has to go through the internet to do that. The program that they had for download to record to your computer doesn't work with Windows 8 very well. So I can't say much on that until they fix that problem.
Summary: Let me start by saying that the system works and effective, but it's plagued with software issues, and not quite up-to-date image quality. If you use iPad/iPod/iPhone the setup is quick and easy, however I have yet to be able to watch recording on SD-Card. When I tried, it crashes. In Windows, the setup took a little more time, and every browser is different. It requires JAVA and it may work on IE but not on Firefox or Chrome and vise versa.
Excerpt: No complaints with B&H... Ease of placing order and the ability to track shipping were outstanding... Dlink camera is OK... Maybe if you have all Dlink equipment it might be easier to set up... But if you don't... It is a difficult proccess... Getting infomation from the Dlink website was like pulling teeth without novacane... Dlink's software not so great... Neither is their email notification system... I finally got it up and running...
Summary: After following the plug and play instructions to the letter, I ended up having to use my IT knowledge to install my cameras and get them working on my Verizon wireless router. IT guy here. I could imagine that any brand wireless camera that needs to get married to your wireless access point could present similar problems, or if installing using a wired Ethernet connection, so I'll withhold poor marks to Dlink but this is something they could improve upon.
Summary: I already have a DCS-932L, so after reading the reviews wanted to get a later model and see if it is significantly better. I use both cameras as nanny cams at home. I can't say I can justify a 2x price difference between the two models. The greatest benefit over the previous model is the SD card slot, which allows you to capture photos/videos locally. I inserted a 16Gb card, this should provide plenty of captures.
Summary: I am somewhat pleased with the product. Set up was easy and it's nice having the sd card to record to. The app for the iPhone could be better plus apple doesn't support jvav which is the main platform dlink uses.
