Excerpt: Spent about 2 hours trying different configurations, but the set up wizard never recoganized the camera. Without the ability to find the camera...setup was a failure...Have no idea how good the camera is.
Excerpt: This camera worked for 5 seconds but wouldn't hook up to my network. It tried several times and even tried to reboot my router. This camera is evil! The whole mydlink thing is garbage as well. Can't sign up unless camera is working, can't troubleshoot if not signed in, can't sign in because camera won't work.
Summary: Let me begin by telling you that I have been a computer software developer since 1982 so I am very familiar with computers. As for this camera, I bought one in 2013 and it works fine. Then I bought a second one about 9 months later and it simply would not setup. After an hour on the phone with D-Link tech support they determined that it was a bad camera so I returned it.
Summary: I'm an IT guy and already have a DLINK DCS-2132L that I love....welp, with this thing you get what you pay for. No matter what I did the camera would NOT connect to my router via WPS; searching for a wireless network in the setup wizard could not find my network (to be fair, had the same problem with the other camera) but when I tried to connect via WPS it finds signal for 5 seconds...and then disconnects. I tried rebooting the router, resetting the camera, nothing.
Excerpt: I have several older dlink cameras with the same resolution. This one is no where close to the same video quality as the older ones. It is very pixelated. I would be impossible to identify an unknown person if this is being used as a security camera. It is easy to set up and works as it should.I would not recommend this camera for the price.
Summary: I bought one of these cameras at Radio Shack and it connected and still works perfectly. Since then I've tried 4 (four) other DCS-930L cameras and all have had issues. In fact I cannot get them to connect at all. The wizard simply doesn't recognize them. I've tried everything from upgrading firmware to altering router settings to unplugging everything except the device I'm working with. Customer support is useless.
Summary: DLINK DCS-930l I use this camera when we go on vacation - maybe once or twice a year, so I'm not exactly a Dlink professional every time I want to set it up. This year when I went to set it up, I was advised that the firmware needed to be upgraded. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, that did not work, even though I followed all of the instructions.
Excerpt: Dear Sirs,Was very excited to receive and install your above mentioned product but unfortunately after a lengthy set up help with a DLink tech it was deemed faulty and was not able to install same. Returned to Staples in Shelton, CT.
Summary: I was in the market for an IP camera but didn't have any experience with them. I bought this because it was cheap. I have it set up for motion detection emails, on the brightest and highest quality settings (640), but the image is still terrible. Extremely low light gathering, and no infrared so the room has to be very well lit. Also the field of vision is extremely narrow. I can barely get it to show wider than a doorway from across the room.
Summary: This product is really frustrating to use with an Apple or mac computer. It will constantly ask you to do updates and after you do them, it will ask you to do them again. I've configured, gotten it to work, then they do updates to Java, and the whole thing falls apart again, and you have to go through some set of mystery steps to try to get it working again. There are miles of suggestions over at the apple site.
