terrible

chris a., Newegg
16 September 2011
  • Summary: stay far away wish there was 0 eggs
  • Pros: absolutely none
  • Cons: D-link is useless, their tech support is some of the worst in the industry. No help at all. The camera really is a piece of junk. Constantly drops the signal and has to be manually reset by unplugging. The low light capabilities are non existent, really. Look for another brand all together.

3 year review

Daniel L., Newegg
13 April 2011
  • Summary: If you're looking for a solid low budget camera, you can't go wrong with these units. I use IP webcam software and IP webcam viewer (android) with my phone. I've needed to reboot the camera's occasionally, but not uncommon for any wifi device.
  • Pros: All 4 cameras still working after 3 years - no problems.
  • Cons: Low light conditions. But I knew these cameras didn’t offer infrared. If you plan on using them inside to view outside areas, simply use a motion detection light…cheap and effective.

Great for the Price

Matthew M., Newegg
10 January 2011
  • Summary: This wifi enabled camera does not include night vision support, so if you need a wifi enabled camera that works great in dark and light, this is not the device for you.
  • Pros: For the price you cannot really go wrong with this wifi enabled surveillance camera. It works exactly as advertised and truly was easy to setup w/ the installer software distributed with the camera. I have not come across many similarly wifi enabled cameras better priced than this.
  • Cons: Not a real big issue, as available camera resolution options are reasonable, but when considering the resolution of cameras one finds even in cell phones today, it would seem that one or two higher resolution options would've been easy enough to add to this camera, but again, not a real drawback,...

Working great

Steve B., Newegg
7 January 2011
  • Summary: At first I was having some hang ups of the images being sent to my FTP server So I checked passive mode on the FTP setup page. It has ran smooth ever since. Zoneminder should be able to get motion detection working instead of just continuous recording but I have not got that far between work and...
  • Pros: Able to use with Linux in the web interface. It captures decent images does the job I need to works good as wireless cam. It sends images to my FTP server with no problems. I am using Zoneminder with it so I can see the video feed without having to login to the web interface every time. For the p...
  • Cons: Motion detection seems to only work if you have the D-link software installed. Wish there would have been a way to activate it on the web interface.

d-link DCS-920 Camera

MARK G., Newegg
11 December 2010
  • Pros: Easy to set up. Came right up using W7 32bit operating system and has not failed. Using the IP address, you can view the live camera through Internet Explorer, so you don't need the D-Link software running once you set it up.
  • Cons: Operating manual could be improved.

Good for price

Jeff C., Newegg
19 November 2010
  • Summary: I have had one cam mounted outside at my cottage protected by just an overhang for over a year now. Location: North Ontario Canada. Weather: -30C to +32C+ It still works.
  • Pros: I have four 920's. Easy set-up. (Must be hardwired for set-up)Good picture quality. Good FPS over internet. Better quality than I expected. See other thoughts.
  • Cons: Software stinks. I use WebcamXP, so far the best I can find for motion and security. Every once in a while the cams need to be rebooted but always reconnect.

Decent Camera

Frank C., Newegg
2 November 2010
  • Summary: no microphone
  • Pros: Easy setup, decent picture quality, solidly built.
  • Cons: Software not friendly. Motion detection requires PC and seems to give many false alerts, although perhaps I don't understand the menus.
