Summary: I purchased this D-Link security camera about a week ago and have been testing it out. I found it very simple to setup this camera so that I can watch live video on my computer or smartphone (I use Android). Setup only took about 10 minutes and the video was coming thru! This camera also has two-way audio, so I can speak with visitors remotely if I choose to. The camera is mounted outside my front door, approx. 50 feet from my wireless router.
Summary: It was not as easy to set up as the box said it would be. Once it was set up the picture is just amazing. It seems like it may be too sensitive to motion or I just haven't figured out how to tame it yet. I had to get a wifi extender in order for it work on the outside of our brick home. All in all, I love it. In fact I went out and bought another one just like it.
Summary: The manual for this camera states it is supposed to be weatherproof, and has an IP65 enclosure. IP65 means the device is protected from water, up to water projected by a nozzle against enclosure from any direction. We set this camera up outside as soon as we bought it. The next day it rained, and moisture intrusion fogged up the lens-cover, making the camera unusable. Thus, this camera is not really weatherproof at all.
Summary: I haven't had a chance to run this camera through a Michigan Winter, but I am optimistic. The picture quality is excellent (day or night). Wifi Set-up was very easy. Setting up the motion capture to email setting MUST be done through the devices IP control panel (type the IP address of the device into your web-browser). The MyDlink homepage will not set-up the email option correctly and it will not work.
Pros: Night Vision, Day time images, easy networking
Summary: I purchased this camera as additional camera for outdoors but at this time have not been able to get it to work well. The setup instructions and video online say it is simple; however, I have not been able to connect the device & get it to setup with my wi-fi even though I connected it to my router and followed instruction.
Summary: Overall, I believe this is a great security camera. The picture quality is awesome. I also have a 700 tv line camera that doesn't even come close to the quality of this one. The width of the viewing angle is enough to replace 2 of my old cameras. I've also noticed that the closer you get to hd, the better the night vision is and this camera is great at night. I do, however, have a separate infrared lamp pointed in the same direction as the camera is pointing.
Pros: Great picture quality - covers a wide area - sees ir light very well
