Summary: I've owned this product for about 3 months now and although it does the job most of the time, it's quite a disappointment considering how it really should work. My M-1031W installed fine but it keeps dropping the network (regardless of LAN or WiFi) about once a week. Most of the time it automatically reconnects after a few time-outs but every now and then I have to unplug it and reboot it to re-establish the connection (!
Summary: m1011w is camera bought didn't have need for sound or lighting, great little camera easy to set up I use Visec program to monitor several cameras all at once, one at a time with web browser not very practical, fast delivery good camera for the price
Summary: I've had the camera for a couple of days now. Thanks to google search I got the email event notifications working. If you go with straight gmail or hotmail as an email service, you will be spending days getting this to work without some modification. In the Event configuration, you can specify a gmail address (for example), however you will need to configure your SMTP netork to use another provider. I use gmx.com because it is more compatable with axis.
Summary: My main complaint about the Axis cameras (I own 2 of them), is that their event detection software is extremely difficult to adjust to a level where events can be detected reliably without lots of false alarms.
Summary: Comments about Axis Communications M1031-W Network Camera: I use this camera indoors for security while away. It works well for this especially with the PIR motion detect, very accurate. The 2 way audio works very well. Where this camera falls short is that image is grainy and it doesn't do all that well with minimal lighting. I had issues with the firmware, but their support is excellent and they were able to provide me new firmware to fix the issues.
Product drops network and Axis' customer service is unacceptable

Summary: I purchased this product on Amazon in Early Feb 2010 and I followed all instructions trying to install it. That's when all the issues started. 1) Camera was not detectable on my wired or wireless network so I decided to call AXIS customer service. Note that they do not show their customer service telephone number anywhere on their site and I had to Google it.
Summary: It's not clear from the documentation, but this little cctv works great on the Macintosh. I just plugged it in to the router, and used the router's status page to show me what IP address was assigned. Using that, I was able to connect using firefox. The video came up immediately, and after choosing something other than mpeg from the drop down menu, I was able to hear the audio as well. There are tons of settings, which I like, because I can set it up just the way I like.
Summary: This was my second purchase of an Axis camera. The 1031W is outstanding, easy to set-up, and offering quite good image quality. Combined with a simple third-party app, I can now easily access both cameras from my iPhone or iPad. I'm a happy camper. I don't know whether the built-in speaker and microphone, accessible remotely, are worth the premium price over the silent model.
