Summary: I was hoping to deploy an inexpensive mirrored array NAS for home storage and media. Now I'm going to try to return this item somehow and build my own. It worked, albeit underperformed, for about 2 weeks before I started experiencing problems. It was always slow. Then, the lights on the front signaled for drive1 failure.
Summary: Had high hopes for this item. Trying to combine 3 computer's files in house into 1 location. Followed install directions, it would not connect to network. Waited overnight just in case it was a slow firmware update, nothing. Tried on another pc with downloaded software no luck. Tried using internet firmware update on Zyxel's website, nothing. Hired an IT person to make it work 2 hours later still nothing.
DEAD UNIT - Had NSA325 for just under 10 months :(

Summary: I bought this product back in May of 2012. I was happy with its performance until just lately. Went to get something off the NAS and it was not accessible, so I went to investigate. The unit was on, but every 20 to 30 seconds all lights would turn off and then come back on. I am disappointed, I have a Linksys MediaHub that is 3 years old and working fine.
Summary: Directions were easy. Put in two 3TB disks, plugged into router and did not show up on network. The drives were detected and ok based on the lights. Contacted ZyXEL and walked through several checks. Router never got a request for IP. ZyXEL was very helpful in trying to debug, but in the end they recommended return. So I'm now waiting on a replacement. This is replacing a 6 year old 1TB NAS that has been solid. 3/22/2013.
Summary: Did not work. It would not appear on network via web or via Zyxel's NSU utility. The SYS light just rapidly blinked green. Zyxel tech support eventually sent me a response asking me to check the following link to see if my HDD was compatible: [...] My HDD was indeed listed as compatible, but with newer firmware. The rep sent instructions on how to reflash the firmware with a USB thumbdrive, but by then I had already returned it.
Summary: I picked up one of these and it has the very common firmware issue, which means the item is entirely broken when it arrives. You are unable to update the firmware using the method described by Zyxel (since this requires that the unit works and is connected to the network). If you get a faulty one, there are 2 options...
Summary: This device, IMHO is garbage. I thought my D-Link dns-323 was slow, this is far worse with regard to the web interface. Admittedly the data rate is faster, when it's working. If you shut it down (from its webpage) it's so awkward to get it started again. I should have purchased another D-Link.
