Summary: Though its does the basic job that I need, I wish there were a way to upload to this device via web browser. File management is slow to update. I don't like the admin screen as I have to click on the application to select, then click again to launch. Those are my cons.
Summary: Here are my figures transferring a 3.8Gb ISO file: JBOD RAID-0 RAID-1 Read 1:23 1:30 1:53 Write 1:17 1:18 1:30 Here are figures for transferring 1.0 GB of Windows System32 files (4077 individual files) JBOD RAID-0 RAID-1 Read 4:00 4:18 4:26 Write 1:12 3:31 1:48 It's amazing that the RAID-0 is the...
Pros: Print server, hackable - get into Linux shell, 3 USB ports, web server, ftp server, mySQL, Python, DropBox integration, auto-sync with another NSA, JBOD (two volume) or JBOD (combined volume), RAID 0 & 1. CPU is as fast as a Atom N450. If you know Linux, you will have a blast playing with essenti...
Cons: RAID 0 and 1 are slower than JBOD (1 drive). I ran many benchmarks and unbelievably the RAID-1 was considerably slower than JBOD with 1 drive. It's likely the RAID is implemented in software, and the CPU can't handle it.
Summary: UPDATE: I am on my fourth unit. First worked two months, 2nd & 3rd were DOA. #4 is working perfectly at this time. I was going to pursue a different product after data retrieval, but I have decided to give this another go. I hope I will not regret it.
Summary: I actually did not buy mine from Newegg :-) (Found a cheaper one a couple of weeks ago!), but it was DOA... Hey! ...that's what happen when you buy elsewhere :D Anyway... The symptoms were: normal boot, as judged by the Led's, but unreachable through the Zyxel setup software.
Cons: Poor industrial design. You have to screw on two pieces of plastics around your hard disk before pushing it into the unit. This type of installation mechanism is so last century. It comes with a very awkward disk ejector as well. Also there is quite a bit of fan noise. It claims that the hard dis...
Summary: Completely new to NAS setup and was dreading setting this one up. Checked all the reviews (unfortunately no one seemed to mention printers with this model) then bit the bullet and bought the NSA320 from Amazon. Inserting the hard drive (well I just bought one 2Tb drive to start with) was a breeze.
Summary: After owning it's baby brother the NSA310 for a number of years, it was time to upgrade, I wanted a dual disk setup and looked at this due to knowing the firmware and also the price. Ordered and delivered quickly as expected, with a pair of WD Red 3tb disks, and the install started.
A budget BusyBox NAS, lacking refinement but with a decent suite of applications
17 November 2011
Summary: This budget NAS enclosure offers RAID-1 protection for your data, easy network connectivity and a fair selection of downloadable apps to provide a variety of functionality. On the downside, it looks cheap and plasticky and that it makes a bit more noise than you'd ideally like.
Summary: Well made and stylish NAS enclosure. It feels pleasantly hefty and gives the impression of being of robust construction. Instructions are rather basic but a full manual is available to download from the website.
