Summary: This isn't my first NAS so I do have something to compare it to, namely a Synology DS213j and a DS214se. On paper there is much to like about the NSA325v2. Compared to the DS214se for around the same money you get removable drive bays, more memory, faster CPU and USB3.0 but I'm afraid it goes a bit downhill from there. Whilst both are made of plastic the synology seems studier and better made.
Summary: This ZyXEL NSA310 1 Bay NAS enclosure gets good reviews and that was one of the reasons I bought one. I've tried running the ZyXEL NSA310 1 Bay NAS enclosure under Win 7 64 and Win 8 64 with a 2TB and 3TB HDD and the same problem keeps popping up. When my PC goes into standby or I start the PC from cold for whatever reason the mapped drives can't be seen by windows and I get an error message saying the drive can't be re-started.
Summary: Bought this based on many good reviews placed in the computer press. Simple to set up with lots of interesting features which I won't use half of. A word of warning. I bought this based on low price but the product comes from a German source therefore dispatched with a two pin plug which is not easily adapted due to built in transformer. Will be looking for a new power supply with three pin plug which will more than consume any saving.
Summary: The Zyxel NSA310 is a very versatile little machine, managed to pick one up for £120 which was pretty much the same as a barebones 2TB drive on its own. This little box of tricks does not only serve as a massive HDD but also media server to share files on a network, it can download directly from the web without the need of a computer and has a lot of other functionality.
